How to Find Guest Speakers for Your Online Conference

Over the last month I’ve been busy finding guest speakers for a online conference I’m hosting in May for Virtual Assistants. If you haven’t heard about it yet, check it out here. (We are almost sold out and it is still two weeks away!)

I thought I’d share with you some of the ways I went about finding 20 guest speakers to speak at my conference in a very short time.

Online conferences or webinars are excellent vehicles for establishing yourself as an expert in your field. But that doesn’t mean that you have to do all of the talking. Sharing the floor with a guest speaker can add to your credibility and give your audience the benefit of a different perspective.

10 Ways a Virtual Assistant Can REVOLUTIONIZE Your Business

VA200For those of you who are still in the dark, a Virtual Assistant, or VA, is an executive level, administrative professional who works from his/her own office to support clients using some of the latest available technology.

The Internet has brought many skilled professionals out of the corporate environment and back into their homes, enabling them to create a better work-life balance, while still performing in the roles they love.

The VA is one such professional.

Working from their home-based offices and making use of the Internet, telephone, fax and email, VAs are able to offer small and medium-sized businesses a quality of administrative support, previously only available to the corporate giants, in a cost-effective manner.

5 Ways to Grow Your Virtual Assistant Business Using Just Your iPhone

I love how easily I can stay on top of my business using just my iPhone!

iphoneDo you have an iPhone yet?

If you’re like many owners, you most likely access your iPhone for a variety of personal and even some business uses. You probably use the GPS to find your way to appointments. I know I’d be lost downtown Vancouver if it wasn’t for my Maps App! Maybe you use a financial application like Mint to stick to your budget. You might even use a note-taking application  to track ideas. However, chances are your iPhone is underutilized.

Are You Making the Most of Your Virtual Assistants?

vaDo you have a Virtual Assistant yet?

They’re one of the best business-building resources available. And they can prevent you from getting overworked, burnt out, and just plain old cranky. Yes, a good Virtual Assistant can be a real life saver. However, many business owners aren’t making the most of their Virtual Assistant.

Here are a few tips, ideas, and strategies to make sure you’re using your wonderful Virtual Assistant in the best manner possible.

Specialize

Some Virtual Assistants provide a wide variety of services while others specialize. In general, it’s often better to find assistants that specialize. This ensures that you’re getting help from someone who is an expert at a given set of tasks and has specialized knowledge. They’ll be more efficient at their specialty task which means they’ll be able to accomplish more. Most assistants charge by the hour.

Never Lose Another File Again by Using Dropbox

Who can say they have never lost a file?

dropboxEvery Virtual Assistant that has created files and documents on their computer has at one time or another experienced the frustration involved when they lose an important file. It’s even more aggravating when it’s a really important client file that you have spent endless hours working on.

Let’s start by taking a quick look at Dropbox and how it can ease your frustration of losing files.

First and foremost, you can download Dropbox for free on any Windows, Mac, Linux or Mobile operating systems. No matter how great your computer system is or how faithful it’s been to you in the past, it is a smart decision to back up files.

Windows 8 – Love it or List it?

windows8

I love that TV series “Love it or List it” where homeowners have to make a decision to keep their current home and upgrade it or just buy a new house.

Reminded me of comments I’ve been hearing both positive and negative on the new operating system Windows 8.

Windows 8 is getting a lot of bad press and frankly I don’t understand why.

(Actually, that’s not true, I do know why folks are upset, I just think it doesn’t have to be an issue as you’ll see later on in this article.)

Looking for a Retreat From Your Virtual Assistant Business?

conferenceEvery time I see an advertisement for a conference that is related to what I do or who I am, I find myself thinking “I need to do that!”

The truth is you cannot attend every conference you hear about.  Not only because you would go broke attending them all but you wouldn’t get any work done!

Here are just a few reasons why you should attend the conference of your choice:

  • You get out of the office! They are a great way to re-energize.  Everyone gets run down and you feel like you are in a rut.  Attending conferences help to get you out of that rut and refuel you.
