For those of you that have been wanting to know what my secret project is ...

Well it's business insurance custom designed for the virtual assistant. Many of you know how hard it is to get insurance for your equipment when you work from home. Well, those fears are now gone. VA networking has partnered with an insurance company to create a custom plan to insure your property and software against loss of any kind, but more importantly, has created a policy to protect you from a client suing you. In addition, it also gives you protection if you subcontract, and they screw up!!!!.

Most of you who signed up for my 007 project should be getting an outline in the next day or so. Working on the assumption that you're all happy with the coverage and premiums, we should be ready to launch mid July.

Arnold

Wow! It really looks like you've thought of everything under the sun. The documents were as concise as legalese can be and seemed to cover all possible eventualities! Great job!!! applause.gif

Thanks!! As soon as I can budget in insurance, I will be buying this!!

Any idea when it may hit Canada? I keep getting stopped at all doors... Here is the latest from someone who thought they could help me and turns out they cannot - AND this is an answer only for my homeowners/auto not even Business Insurance but with them knowing I work from home providing the services I do which includes websites and blogs.

Apparently we, and several other insurers, are not prepared to expose themselves to potential defense costs if a law suit was initiated against the policy holder where the business is in web design or consulting. The policy would not respond to pay for the liability claim but would be required to defend the action. Due to the difficulty in measuring the extend of the liability exposure they actually consider this type of computer risk as having the most potential for high court costs because there has not been may cases yet to enable them to rely of existing precedence-setting rules.

Arnold,

Please tell me if the Virtual Assistant insurance was completed in July 2009 and now ready for purchase. I'm preparing to start my own business and was wondering about the type of coverage I would need. Would love to see what this package includes!

Thanks,

Right now it will only be available in the USA but we are working next on Canada, UK and then Aussie and correct me if I'm wrong Arnold.

Hi Tawnya,

Thanks for this link, Patty! I'm doing the nitty gritty on my business budget and needed a premium amount for liability insurance. The initial posts refer to open entrollment through Nov 2009. Is this still available insurance for new VAInsiders?

Thanks again, Patty!

I continue to love, love, LOVE this group!!!

VA to be...I'm 99% there, as is hubby. Just working out final numbers before taking the plunge.

Do we need insurance? What do I need to insure? Is homeowners insurance enough?
Thanks,
Annette

You should have business insurance and I don't believe its covered under general home insurance although check with your policy. If you are in the US, I highly recommend getting the insurance we offer here: http://www.vanetwork...rotection-plan/ It's the best product out there in my opinion but unfortunately only available to USA right now.

If you are in CAD, you'll have to talk to your own insurance company and see what they can do for you. You'll want to shop around for sure.
