Want to Create an Ebook That Sells? Make It Stand Out From the Crowd

It would be great if you could write about what you loved and make oodles of money from it. While some people certainly do, it’s definitely the harder road to take. So if you’re looking to get more sales and more clients for your business through ebooks and other information products, then it pays to invest a little time in choosing the right topic--and making sure it has the potential to be a hit.

I generally walk clients through a five step process for doing exactly that--and one of those steps is positioning your ebook to stand out from the competition before you set fingers to keyboard.

· Target a specific niche. There may be fewer potential buyers, but they’ll be a lot easier to find and your ebook will be much more appealing to them.

· Go deep, not broad. Going into detail about a specific topic can go a long way as way. For example, “how to get your ex back” instead of “how to make your relationship better.”

· Highlighting your personal experience.
If you have more personal experience in solving the problem, definitely share that. More experience = more credibility.

· Emphasizing an overlooked point. I created my 7 Steps to Creating Copy that Speaks Your Client’s Language for More Clients & More Sales program because many of the copywriting programs out there tell you to make sure you use language that resonates with your clients--but none actually walk you through the process of how to do it.

· Changing the format. Flow-chart type process sheets are really big right now thanks to a couple big internet marketers promoting products with them. I also recently saw an ebook for Fill-in-the-Blank Love Letters which seemed to be selling well (although I wonder if people are really using them—or just buying them to laugh at!)

· Interviewing a rockstar. Getting a well-known name in your market to spill their secrets can again boost your credibility and set yours about from other “unknown” authors.

· Adding different bonuses. Focus on what customers will really need to make the most of your information and offer bonuses that help with that.

Again, making the effort to create a unique product from the beginning will save you a lot of time and frustration later—and create A LOT more passive income for your business!

Don’t forget, Tracy’s offer her new Cracking the Code on Ebook Success--Creating Ebooks & More in 7 Days or Less (Minimal Writing Required!) at a special pre-launch discount for us of 50% through July 3 if you use coupon code VAWEB06.

Hello Patty

This is a great article, and so very true. Your first 2 points are so important, and unfortunately ignored by so many authors.

Great advice.

Best regards.
Colin
