How did you get your first client ?

Recommended Posts

How did you get your first client/project ?

What I mean is , when you got your first client, was your business up and running or were you in the process of starting your business and you just got lucky with your first client ?

Did you advertise before having a website up?

I'm asking this question because I don't have a site yet but I do have skills that I could put to use.

Sweetie, if you meet someone who could use your services and skills, you just tell them right there. And, if they hire you, get to work! I doubt that anyone has most of their business come in cold from a website. It' is networking online and in person.

Hi Mago,

I was starting up, signing up to several websites as a VA, and at the same time I was preparing my webpage, facebook fan page and so. I also do local networking, most to hear about other people experience about starting business and how they did. And then I got my first client, and as a VA said in one of the forums: - I never lokked back ;) . But if you don´t have a web site and you do not know how to get one, you can start using aboutme.com It works as a business card on line, so you at least have a presentation of your self ready to be sent out.

Back then I really have no plans on working as a VA. I don't even have a blog that time so I'm not sure where my first client got my email. What I just know is that I have my resume listed on different job sites and I keep it updated every month.

Mago

FYI -I had my business set up when I got my first client (business name, website, business cards). For me it made it easier for my potential clients to check me out before they spoke with me. No, my website has no SEO, although maybe one day.

Please remember one thing....You are a business owner. I never ask a plumber, electrician, florist, etc. for their resume and I'm sure they wouldn't expect me to. They network and market where they know their target market is. That's what you need to do also. You need to figure out who your target market is and network/market where they 'hang out' - whether it be online or in person.

I can't Thank You enough, goo points.

The good thing after networking here is ,I came up with a business name:

Mak's VA Services, thanks for the assistance.

I can only advertise online and with your guidance I'm sure I will also find my target market, I have some idea, but I need to keep studying.

? Is there a webinar this week ?
