Why did you join VAnetworking ?I joined VAnetworking to learn more about the Virtual Assistant world, to network, meet colleagues and to get and give support. - Sally Kuhlman Because I needed to get involved in a group of professionals who believed in what they did as a profession to apply their skills and grow in their profession. - Gerald David Teigrob I discovered VAnetworking a few years ago when I first began researching the field of virtual assistance. I had worked as an admin professional for many years and I loved the work. I was tired of office politics and feeling less than appreciated. I wanted an opportunity to take charge of my own destiny. - Roxanne Ravenel I joined because I was just getting started and was hungry for any information that I could get my hands on. - Leisa Good I was invited by Tawnya - Kathie Thomas I joined VAnetworking because I am a new VA and wanted to see how other VA's ran their business, to meet other VA's, & hopefully to find CLIENTS!!!! - Rondallyn McKinzi To learn from experienced VAs. - Paula I was looking for support, information and networking opportunities, did a google and found VAnetworking. - TildaVirtual I lived in the same Vancouver suburb as Tawnya. She was using her Internet Marketing Magic on the VAnetworking Forum. So whenever I entered Coquitlam Business or Coquitlam Networking into Google, Tawnya's smiling face would appear! - ThereseWeel I joined VAnetworking because I feel that it is extremely important to network, learn and share with those in your own industry. VAnetworking was talked about on another message board, so I came by, checked it out and loved every minute of it! - Beccanoles I really wanted to be in the company of others that
want to offer clients similar services. I knew that I would learn a
tremendous amount of knowledge and I have to say that I have. For the sense of community, of belonging to a group of like-minded people, for the gathering of information from the more experienced, the older & wiser ones of this industry. Once I joined, I purchased the VAS which I knew would provide the missing information for my business and planning. - LaynieK I thought it would be a good way to learn from the industry. - kimmer I wanted to be in touch with other VA's and learn from them. - coxadmin During my first visit to your site I immediately recognized that VAnetworking would become an important asset to my VA business due the enormous amount of VA related resources that you have made available to us. - CleriCon Lots of GREAT USEFUL information. - POKEYS I lurked for a day or so reading the posts, but the "personal" flavor of the forum and the extreme amount of truly relevant help drew me in. I felt I could belong here and participate freely. - Sue Peel Because I was curious what a VA was - hadn't heard too much about it before. - Johmac Excellent answers to questions...everyone was willing to help. - Intaggar Curiosity and peer support. - Brandi63 Prior to becoming a VA I was not generally a participator of online forums, but this one just looked so fun and interesting. I also liked the fact that it was not some "faceless" cyber-organization. Tawnya was obviously a known "commodity" and devoted industry guru (which was demonstrated by her Media Mage website) so I thought this would be a positive experience. - Karri So that I could pass on advice and meet other people in the same business. - Diamond Secretarial It looked like a great group of knowledgeable, friendly people. - cep Initially for information on the industry, but now that I think about it - for the support of other VAs and the friendships. - AmandaD VAnetworking was one of very few active VA networking boards that I could find. I desired to be around VAs who were "Walking the Talk" and supportive to other VAs. - VirtualCy I read a lot of posts and found a place where I thought I could get info and advice, and hopefully avoid all the cliffs that others have jumped off, fallen from or been pushed off and wished they hadn't. - Sue Rodney For the camaraderie, to learn, and for the friendly supportive network of people here. - YvonneMcCoy I was trying to join as many forums as I could to learn more about the VA industry. - GrainneFoley I actually e-mailed you directly to see if you thought that my background was sufficient to become a Virtual Assistant. You were so sweet and helpful. I decided to join the VAnetworking at that time. - Caroline Jarzabeck To learn more about the industry, and tips and tricks for the biz. - Donna Toothaker I joined VAnetworking because I couldn't help myself! There was so much information, and then when I joined I saw so much more! It's really been a lifesaver! - Erin Banister As a new VA, I wanted a forum...a group to belong to...to gain ideas from...and to share ideas with. - Gerald Q. What has VAnetworking given to you?VAnetworking has given me friends all over the planet, sub-contractors, incredible support and advice. - Sally Kuhlman I have a renewed confidence in some ways. I started a fulltime job last September so have been unable to be as involved with VAnetworking but as I gain experience in my admin work I will eventually work my way back to the VA profession again. I've also graduated from the SEB program so anytime I am ready to start my business I have the tools to do so. -Gerald David Teigrob I would say that VAnetworking is a wonderful forum for newbies and those searching for info on becoming on a VA. But, that is only partially true. You NEVER outgrow your VAnetworking membership. As professionals that want to be at the top of our game, we are always learning, seeking, growing. VAnetworking gives you a forum to do this in a very supportive, positive environment. I truly appreciate this. - Roxanne Ravenel It has given me a wonderful group of professionals turned friends to correspond with and learn from. - Leisa Good More friends- Kathie Thomas VAnetworking has given me my first client - YEAH!!!! A lot of great ideas on how to run my business, advertise, nice conversation, etc. - Rondallyn McKinzie Not only has it provided one of the most valuable resources that I have in regard to running my business, it is a place to socialize! - Paula A lot! I find the chats and the forum to be extremely informative. I have learned about so many things and it helps to know that there are other people facing the same issues/triumphs as myself. - TildaVirtual Friendship, information, entertainment, a sense of community. - ThereseWeel VAnetworking is like family. We come to each other for advice, support, questions and to share. Sometimes the answers we receive aren't what we want to hear, but they are given in love by our sisters and brothers. We are highly supportive of one another and aren't competitive. This venue is ahead of its time and a leader in how to network in the VA industry. - beccanoles A community that I can go to listen and be heard. A community of peers that are more than willing to share their knowledge with others and share lessons they have already learned. I’m thankful I can go there to ask for advice and know that I am receiving the most knowledgeable answers from those that truly care about the success of my business, not just theirs. - LynneC Confidence in the VA industry, belief in myself and the system, and respect of self and all the other VA entrepreneurs in this world. Starting a business from nothing is hard, yakka (i.e., work!). - LaynieK I can honestly say that it has been one of the biggest reasons for my success! - kimmer Advice and friends. - Coxadmin VAnetworking has given me more than I could have imagined!! First of all VAnetworking offers a wealth of information that has become priceless to me. Secondly the VAnetworking gang is truly a wonderful group of people who are warm, considerate, caring, helpful and encouraging. They are also very intelligent, capable and multi-talented people who are quick to share experiences, give advice, and motivate whether you be a newbie or veteran VA. VAnetworking has also given me much more confidence now then when I first started simply because I know that I can always come here for support and advice. VAnetworking has also become my "safety net" in the case that if a future client may require a service that goes beyond my capabilities I can simply refer a client to a fellow VA. VAnetworking also gives me a feeling of "connectivity" with fellow VA's. Just knowing that you are all out there and available for support and encouragement is encouragement enough! VAnetworking also gives me validation: anytime I feel like I may be following a pipe dream I can come here and remember that the VA industry is truly a real and viable business to be involved in. VAnetworking also gives me a feeling of pride! I am proud to be here, proud to be a VA, proud to be a part of this wonderful industry, proud to be in business, proud to be independent and proud to be associated with all of you!! I honestly cannot tell you all of what VAnetworking has and still gives me as VAnetworking just keeps on giving!! Every day there is something new and wonderful here and for this I am grateful. - CleriCon Answers to my questions and a lot of different links to find what I need, Excellent Support from all members. - POKEYS Confidence, knowledge, comfort and encouragement when I have a "down" moment, resources, links, ideas, laughs, the list is endless...Thanks, VAnetworking ! - Sue Peel Unbelievable support, advice and encouragement. I don't think there are many places that have the wonderful people this forum does. - Johmac Confidence to market my business. - Intaggar This forum gives me a sense of belonging, camaraderie, choice and respect. In a word “grounding”. I don’t feel so isolated when I log into the VAnetworking because I feel like we’re in this huge office building; but on different floors, or another part of the building working for different departments within the same industry; maybe just down the hall, and we instant message or email each other for peer support, tech support, to catch up, get advice, etc. Everyone’s personality comes through on this forum, even from the quiet observers – as they do in brick and mortar businesses. Some really talkative on some days and not so much on another day. We have our “tech and semi-tech” people, our “hostess, proper, professional, fun-loving, and counselor” personalities, “VA veterans”, “newbies”, etc. It’s an absolutely amazing mix, and the best part of this forum, unlike in a brick and mortar business is the freedom to choose what topics you want to contribute to, or participate in without any pressures or the typical office politics that I’m sure contributed (in some degree) to what lead us all to pursue our own businesses. - Brandi63 More than just "information," I have gained a ton of real usable business knowledge as well as the opportunity to meet some wonderful and inspiring business people. This is so much more than a "tips and tricks" forum. It is a community. - Karri a lot of advice and hopefully some friends. - Diamond Secretarial Friendship, advice, shoulders to lean on. - cep Confidence in myself! - AmandaD VAnetworking has become my den of VA support, information, and invaluable resources. - VirtualCy A sense of camaraderie, and the ability to see that others have gotten where I hope to be - it really helps when you're getting your act together. - Sue Rodney VAnetworking has given me a much better insight into how to run a VA practice, and specific information on various technical issues. - YvonneMcCoy Advice, friendships, camaraderie, an insight into other VA businesses, support, tips and so on. - GrainneFoley Reading through all the posts and helpful advice has given me a sense of confidence. I really appreciate all the sharing of tips and tricks and free and low cost solutions. - Caroline Jarzabeck A resource of talented women to answer questions,
and fabulous friends! A renewed sense of capability - I see many other VAs going through the same troubles as I have been! Also, I've gotten a great sounding board of ideas! - Erin Banister The confidence that I need to go out and take risks...to do something I love and always wanted to do...and a sense of community. - Gerald Q. Has it helped you in your VA business? My business has benefited from VAnetworking thanks to all the helpful, knowledgeable and supportive members. - Sally Kuhlman Several times. I've been able to get answers to questions that helped me run my business more efficiently. I've gotten recommendations that were able to help my clients. There is so much available at VAnetworking. Nearly every topic that would come up for a virtual assistant is covered in one of the forums. - Roxanne Ravenel It certainly has helped. Many times I didn't have a clue what to do with a particular technology and received great advice. Many times I was stuck and couldn't figure out how to do something on my own and was overwhelmed with advice and people wanting to even do it for me. - Leisa Good It's helped me help others - I have a thriving and
successful VA business but am now focused on helping others develop
their businesses. YES - Rondallyn McKinzie You bet! - Paula Definitely. When I finished designing my website, the first place I came to post my link to was VAnetworking. The feedback and encouragement was far more than I ever expected. My website is now generating a lot of interest in my business. - TildaVirtual After years of holding responsible positions, I was interested in finding out how the virtual world works and what new technologies are out there to help small business owners. VAnetworking is a great place to find out what works and what doesn't. I believe working virtually will grow to become an increasingly popular alternative to employment. Unfortunately money does not drop from the sky just because you have a website. You need the skills to attract a network of clients. The only sure fire way I have found to attract clients is to be a committed professional and produce quality work. VAnetworking is a great place to help you develop those skills. My business has morphed into a software consulting business. Over a year later I have a life, one regular client and a part time job lined up for the fall. The simple life is fine with me, as gives me plenty of time to explore other things. I am currently indulging my interest in social entrepreneurship. Time spent at the VAnetworking forum has been time well spent. - ThereseWeel By having such a supportive group of people, your business can't help but flourish. VAnetworking isn't just a place to get business, it's a place where we can help each other get and understand business. - beccanoles Absolutely. I wouldn’t have the resources that I have if it had not been for this forum. - LynneC The VAS has been immeasurable valuable in assisting me to set up and establish my business. It has given me everything from form templates to marketing ideas. It has given me exposure to the minds of the leaders of the global VA movement. - LaynieK OH YES!! - kimmer Yes - it's helped me to focus on my strengths and given me great advice on marketing my business. - coxadmin VAnetworking has helped me immensely in my VA business, I would not be where I am today if it weren't for VAnetworking . VAnetworking has contributed to my business by the wealth of information made available to me, anyone interested in starting up their own VA practice would be well advised to join VAnetworking . I highly recommend this site! - CleriCon Yes, I have found shorter/easier ways to do things. - POKEYS YES, YES, and YES! Knowing that other VA's are succeeding in this great business keeps me motivated. Also, knowing that I don't know it all, it is awesome to be able to draw on such an incredible knowledge base as we have within this group. - Sue Peel Well, I would answer yes inasmuch as getting started and all the things that have to be done. I was completely taken aback at some things such as a press release. Thought - there is no way I could ever write one but once I started it, it just flowed. - johmac Yes...I am in full marketing mode now after spending a year waiting for clients to find me! - Intaggar Yes, keeps me focused. - Brandi63 Absolutely! This is my "go-to" place. - Karri It has given me a lot of advice that I have been able to put into practice. - Diamond Secretarial Absolutely! If I have a problem or question, I know I can come here and get fast, honest answers. - cep YES (although I haven't officially started up). - AmandaD Yes!!! I'm re-structuring my VA practice and have a short deadline to re-opening. The information at the forum has allowed me to forge ahead at FULL SPEED. - VirtualCy No business yet - I don't project to be hunting clients for several months yet. I'm still in the preparation stage, wanting to be sure all is ready so I'm not in that "Ho-ly-mother-of-pearl - why didn't I plan for this?" state. I realize that there's always stuff that happens, but I hope to keep it to a minimum! - Sue Rodney Well I have come to realize that to successfully run a VA business I need to become much more business savvy. So in that sense it has possibly helped me avoid failure before I even begin to actively market my business. - YvonneMcCoy Anytime that I have a question or a problem it is always answered by this forum, this is now the only forum that I use when I have questions. - GrainneFoley I would say definitely yes. I actually was accepted on the SEB Program February this year to become a VA. I owe a lot of thanks to my acceptance on the program to VAnetworking and you, Tawnya. Without your initial response to my query about VA's I would never had the confidence to realize my dream. - Caroline Jarzabeck It's definitely helped with those odd-ball things that I hadn't come across in my business. I'll find at least one person on VAnetworking has already "been there, done that" and can offer advice. - Donna Toothaker It's helped my broaden my VA horizons and realize what is and is not expected of VAs. - Erin Banister I've found the suggestions others give most helpful...and I've tried to implement some of my thoughts and ideas into my own business approach. Time will tell...but at the same time, I find that I gain new motivation to grow my business whenever I check the VAnetworking web site. - Gerald Q. What is the funniest thing that happened to you at the forum? The best thing that happened to me related to VAnetworking was meeting my fellow VAnetworking members in person at the VA Conference in Dallas last year. We had lots of laughs together! - Sally Kuhlman I posted the incorrect link to my blog, apologized then posted it incorrectly again. - Leisa Good Nothing yet - although there have been some funny posts. - Kathie Thomas Maybe, I am just boring, nothing funny yet. - Rondallyn McKinzie I get called Tilda a lot! That's my daughter's nickname
thanks. So Many! Kimmer’s Trade Show Posts, The cold call challenge - Dale in Fishnet Stockings. - ThereseWeel Boy, it's really hard to put my finger on any one thing. But I would have to say the thread about Dale dressing up like a woman for the "cold calling challenge." That would be a site! - beccanoles The Week in the Life was great fun to read. Kimmer’s life tends to be pretty funny and entertaining sometimes. - LynneC Being asked to become a Moderator of the VBSS section. I seem to be having chats with myself and Tawnya in there. Feels like I am shouting into a yawning chasm waiting to hear a response which I know will one day come. - LaynieK I can't think of anything but I have learnt not to hit reply too quickly in case I haven't read the post properly! - Coxadmin The funniest thing that happened to me at the forum would have to be when I first joined. I was so eager to learn and become an active member that I did not bother to read the help section. I posted (or so I thought) quite a few comments and questions and waited for an e-mail, reply, anything!! Only to learn that none of my posts were even posts but notes to myself in the MY CONTROLS section!! (Hey, don't laugh so hard, it happens!) - CleriCon I'm loving the "Day in the Life- " series. I'm really a very focused person, so it's great to be reminded to laugh! - Sue Peel I have to admit I am enjoying 'A week in the life of a VA' - so many different angles and it breaks up the day. - Johmac The realization that the virtual world is really not as big as I thought. - Intaggar I'm really enjoying the "Day in the Life" series. - Brandi63 No one thing in particular - but I do tend to "vent" here and sometimes I frantically post questions when I can't figure something out, and then a day or two later I end up answering my own question on the forum. Of course, this "thinking out loud" process can actually be quite helpful, both to myself and hopefully other VAs. - Karri Nothing has happened as yet. - Diamond Secretarial Hmmm..nothing really funny. Although, I met another VA who lives practically around the corner from me. - VirtualCy Haven't been here long enough - gimme a chance! - Sue Rodney Nothing directly to me, but am enjoying the "week in the life" and the "share your workspace" threads. - YvonneMcCoy Funny things happen on a weekly basis, some of the stories are hilarious. - GrainneFoley Unfortunately, I can't give you an answer to this question yet. - Caroline Jarzabeck Hmm, I enjoy hearing funny personal stories once in a while, instead of the usual 'business'. - Donna Toothaker I have been mostly a lurker, only adding information when I have something to say :-) However, I've been in contact with quite a few Vas from VAnetworking and none of them realized (until I told them) that not only was I a member, I knew all the trouble they were going through! - Erin Banister I liked the newest VA link for one of the daughters that was recently posted. As well, voting for someone's pet. I enjoy the spontaneity that we as VA's can share ... you find out very quickly who knows when we need "pick-me-ups"! - Gerald Q. What is the most inspiring thread you've read here and what resulted from reading it for you?So many of the VAnetworking threads have been inspiring to me, I can't pick just one. Just having the forum got me through the tough days of being a newbie. I love the health and wellness thread... hearing about other peoples success with their own health and wellness, motivates me to stay healthy. - Sally Kuhlman Lana from Australia, encouraged me with my health issues that I was dealing with as well as encouraging me while looking to get more involved in real estate. - Gerald David Teigrob I can't remember one in particular, but there are often times when, as small business owners, we are down in the dumps. This is typical for any small business owner. The insight and encouragement offered by fellow members - from newbies to seasoned pros - is inspiring. Not only to the person who initially posed the question, but to countless others reading the thread, as well. - Roxanne Ravenel The most inspiring thread was on persistence and to keep marketing even when you are not getting clients. - Leisa Good Many of them have been inspiring - I love reading posts from newbies whose "lights" have just switched on. - Kathie Thomas All the encouraging words in regards to starting up my VA business, the nice welcomes. - Rondallyn McKinzie I don't have a specific thread, but I really appreciate how everyone jumps in when someone is feeling down about their business. It provided good motivation for me at the beginning to keep going! Even those six long months before I had a client! - Paula It would have to be the thread Jaime from Mann Made
Time posted about her timeline of her business growth. She is an inspiration
and it helped me a great deal knowing that she was able to build her
business with clients she loves to work with in a relatively short period
of time. Seeing new VAs who are anxious and nervous about getting clients actually get a client and watching their confidence grow. Once that confidence is sparked, they really blossom! - beccanoles It’s really hard to come up with just one. There have been so many threads that have inspired and encouraged me. So many that made me realize that if this is the career I want…I can have it. - LynneC I have found a lot of them to be useful for a number of different reasons - some I know the answers to which gives me confidence in my skills, some I don't know which means I have more to learn, and some make me think which means I have more to try. However, the most inspiring thread I've read here - where I introduced myself and everyone replied with open warm honest friendship and encouragement. What did I get from it? A sense of belonging where I didn't have to explain what I did for a living, whereas before I was a 'stand-alone' and no one around me knew what I was doing and therefore not as supportive as I would have liked. - LaynieK The most inspiring to me are the posts about website design, I always learn something new! - kimmer So many threads have inspired me particularly those about marketing. - Coxadmin The most inspiring thing I have read here would no contest be, Tawnya's own comment. Remember, no question is ever stupid, stupidity comes from not asking when you have the opportunity (VAnetworking - Virtual Assistant Networking Association) to do so. This comment has helped me to realize that it is due to our own self limitations, our own lack of self confidence and our own fears of appearing unintelligent or inexperienced that can hinder our own chances of success and growth and that once we overcome that then nothing can stand in our way!! - CleriCon There's a lot, mostly the links for other useful software I can use - POKEYS Many threads have inspired me, either to continue when it gets tough or to try something I've not thought of trying before. In one thread, I needed a motivational "kick in the pants" and admitted so in the Coffee Break topic. The responses were warm, inspiring and just exactly what I needed. - Sue Peel I think it's when I read that when you get down to the nitty gritty, we all have the same trepidations and fears but for those who have come before me, they have just barged ahead and done well - that's inspiring. - johmac I found the marketing threads from Kimmer fantastic reading. - Intaggar The motivational quotes. "Great attitude adjustment." - Brandi63 There are a few women on this forum (ok, there are a couple in particular who stand out in my mind) who have shared some very personal stories of despair and how they plan to triumph over their personal obstacles. By striving to become truly independent business women, they discover how strong and talented they really are. This whole entrepreneurial process really forces one to dig deep which I think a lot of people don't realize unless they become an entrepreneur themselves. - Karri ALL the threads are inspiring. I can't put my finger on just one. - cep There are too many answers for this, but I do have to say, I've been ready to give up a couple of times, but a visit to the forum has always gotten me back on track, just by reading other's posts. - AmandaD I like the Direct Marketing threads. Marketing is key in business and this area has provided me with great ideas for my marketing plan. - VirtualCy I've been busily reading posts, but haven't been through anywhere near even half -my mind's spinning with all the info! - Sue Rodney That one is so hard to answer. There has been so much wisdom shared here by veteran VAs who I have nothing but respect for. That is what I find inspirational. - YvonneMcCoy There are lots, it's interesting to read about up and coming VA's because then you start to realize how far you have come. - GrainneFoley I was reading through the threads the other day when I read about one of the members heart-rending story of how she lost her husband and how we need to tell our loved ones how much we love them while they are still here with us. The responses from the other members of the forum made me cry. I wanted to so much be with all of you and give you all a hug. This was the most inspiring and beautiful time of sharing. - Caroline Jarzabeck It's always inspiring to hear encouragement from people when other VAs are having a rough go at it. There's always a lot of support. - Donna Toothaker I joined VA Training through one of the posts on the forum, and I must say it has helped my double my business in less than 3 months! Weehoo! - Erin Banister I think some of the posts in dealing with life issues has been most inspiring. We all have good and bad things happen at times...it's good to have a place in the forums to get things out in the open in terms of various issues and we can lean on each other for support through those difficult times. - Gerald Q. Have you gotten new clients or friendships through the forum?I have gained best friends from the forum, sub-contractors and yes clients. - Sally Kuhlman I've gained lots of new friendships and I've met nearly every subcontractor I've worked with through VAnetworking. - Roxanne Ravenel Yes, I have gained both. - Leisa Good New friendships and cemented existing ones even further. - Kathie Thomas I've gained a new client - hopefully another. - Rondallyn McKinzie I feel like I have gained new friendships. - Paula No new clients as yet, although I am based in Australia so that may be a barrier for some. - TildaVirtual No close friendships but I feel welcomed each and every time I come to visit. Yes, both clients and friendships. - ThereseWeel The friendships I have made from this forum are unbelievable! We have formed not just friendships, but a few joint business ventures as well. Plus, I have found some great people that I can sub-contract work to. - beccanoles I have not received new clients as of yet, however I am certain that I will in the future. Though we may not all be "close", I feel that I have made many friends and appreciate each and every one of you! - LynneC Friendships - yes, clients - not directly. Client prospecting ways - definitely! More important to find is the honesty, trust and respect without the politics. The reason I escaped Corporate Life. - LaynieK YES! - Kimmer I know that there are loads of people I can turn to for advice, whether it's business or personal. - Coxadmin I have not gotten any new clients as I am focusing on educating myself as much as possible before I fully market my business. I am still getting to know the VAnetworking gang and hope to make lasting friendships with these great people. - CleriCon Yes, very friendly people here. - POKEYS New clients - not yet. But I believe that membership in VAnetworking will ensure that I will -either directly or indirectly. Friends - I hope so, still pretty new. However, I can say that I've grown to highly respect and admire many of the contributors to the forum, and isn't that a great basis for future friendships?! - Sue Peel Not so much new clients since I have a few things right now to deal with but I am making progress. I will say there are genuine friendships. - johmac No clients but I have developed some friendships. - Intaggar No new clients from this forum, yet. Friendships? I think so. - Brandi63 Well, my company is only a few months old, so no new clients yet, although the VAnetworking VA directory is definitely bringing traffic to my website. And I have definitely made some friends here whom I plan to stay in touch with. - Karri Its still early days for me. - Diamond Secretarial No new clients but a lot of friendships. - cep No clients as I'm not operating yet, but I have made new friends. - AmandaD No new clients YET and the friendships are forming. - VirtualCy No clients but I found out that VirtualCy lives only just past hollering distance from me! - Sue Rodney No clients - I didn't really expect to get clients through VAnetworking . I hope to make friends here. - YvonneMcCoy I have met some great people through here but no clients which I didn't really expect to get. - GrainneFoley Not yet. Part of this is my fault. I actually have had a couple of bad experiences with a couple of VA's that made me want to shut myself off from everyone. I have actually re-thought things and realize that I need to have the friendship and camaraderie of fellow VA's and that not all VA's are created the same. So I have actually started lurking around the Forum again. - Caroline Jarzabeck Many friendships. - Donna Toothaker I've gained a *LOT* of friendships through the forums, more than I could have asked for! - Erin Banister No clients yet...but not that I haven't tried. I think I have gained more friends than I have gained clients...but I'm sure that if anyone can help out for those of us who are new...others will be there to lead us and encourage us. - Gerald Q. How important is this forum to your VA business and why?VAnetworking is very important to my VA business because it keeps me sane, introduces me to new technology and ideas and keeps me connected to what is happening in the VA world. - Sally Kuhlman It is very important. As a matter of fact, I often mention the resources that VAs have available to them when I am speaking with potential clients. VAnetworking's benefit extend to our clients, as well. - Roxanne Ravenel It is a great resource for knowledge, learning, and networking. - Leisa Good It's a part of the industry and I love being involved
and I love helping. This forum is very important to my VA business. I try to log in at least once per day. I am able to ask questions / advice from VA's that have been in the business longer than myself. - Rondallyn McKinzie VERY VERY VERY VERY - Paula Very important! Just the wealth of knowledge in this site is important. I have learned so many things like retainer packages. It's not a done thing here in Australia by the service industry however I can definitely see the benefits in implementing one in my business. - TildaVirtual Right up there with oxygen and water for being such a great place to network. - ThereseWeel VAnetworking is extremely important to my virtual assistance practice. If I have a question, the knowledge here is unparalleled. As stated before, we are like a big family. We are here to support each other in all endeavors, not just business. As family, we take part in big events (ie. births, birthdays, weddings, when the husband decides to shave his head, men dressing up like women to win a bet, etc.) It's fun and it's intriguing. I would be lost without it. - beccanoles This forum is so important to my business because I know that I’ll always be up on the latest trends, software, new ideas for our business and it will help me continue to be more and more valuable to my clients. - LynneC Very important, particularly at this introductory stage of my business' life cycle because it is my belief life/hot line. By being involved in the forum, keeps my mind on my business and maintains my motivation and passion for both my business and the industry. As I learn more, I contribute more to this forum and in that way I am giving back to the source from where I get my knowledge. - LaynieK It is of the utmost importance to me because of the support here! - kimmer Vital - it's a support network of like-minded people. - Coxadmin This forum is crucial to my VA business simply because VAnetworking is (in my opinion) the most informative VA related site available. - CleriCon I check daily for new things, It's my morning/afternoon/evening paper. - POKEYS Hi, my name is Sue Peel and I'm a VAnetworking addict- Joking aside, I was at a business seminar the other day, and a very astute gentleman said "hey, this business could get so so popular that you could have more clients than you can handle." I felt so proud to be able to respond "Actually, I belong to a highly skilled, very professional group of VA's that I can draw on for help." Not only is VAnetworking a great resource for knowledge, networking and as subcontract support, but it's also supplies comfort in knowing that I'm not going it alone. - Sue Peel There is no scale where this forum is in it's importance - beyond the written word. - Johmac If I need an answer to any question I feel confident that someone will know the answer or direct me in the right direction. - Intaggar On a scale of 1 through 10 – definitely a 10 - Brandi63 VAnetworking keeps me inspired, interested, and OK, highly entertained. Whenever you ask a question, you get not only a response but a rationale. It makes you really think about the business decisions you're making. That's what I love about the VAs on board. It's serious business talk here. - VirtualCy Very important. Since as a profession, we don't work in proximity with others in similar positions - this forum serves as a sort of virtual watercooler where we can commiserate, congratulate and exchange experience, ideas and tips. Also a place where we can bounce ideas off a peer group and get some truly insightful answers. Plus some of y'all are a hoot! - Sue Rodney This forum is vital, not only to my business but to me as a person. I start my day with it, and pop in and out often, even like now at 2.30 am when I can't sleep!. - YvonneMcCoy I come to the forum on a daily basis as much as I can, I like to see how others are doing and see if anyone is having the same problems that I may be having. I learn at least one thing new nearly every time I am on the site...so I find it very educational. I like to be able to talk in a group with people who know what I'm talking about...and who I understand as well as who understand me. - Gerald Q. What makes you keep coming back to visit us? What do you get from it?I love my friends in the box! In the beginning I came for advice and support. Now I come to offer support, be a cheerleader and check in with my virtual buddies. - Sally Kuhlman There are several reasons I keep coming back. First is the wealth of information available. The second is the spirit in which this information is dispensed. It is positive, kind, supportive. That is key. New forums continue to spring up, but many of them have forgotten the importance of being positive and nurturing. The spirit of the leader is usually reflected in the group or forum itself. Tawnya's positive outlook and desire to help others shines through in every nook and cranny of this forum. - Roxanne Ravenel The people are what makes VAnetworking so special. I can't believe all that I learn almost daily by just clicking on a topic--even a random topic--and learning. - Leisa Good This is the first login type one that I've become addicted to. I normally only participate in email based ones like in yahoogroups. But something keeps pulling me back :-) - perhaps it's because there's such a great bunch here and they're appreciate of all the help they get from whomever gives it! - Kathie Thomas I keep coming back to see who has responded to my threads & to view if there are any new job postings. - Rondallyn McKinzie The opportunity to learn and to share my knowledge. To help motivate the "newbies" just like people motivated me when I began. - Paula Friendship, knowing that there are some creative and smart people here and knowledge. - TildaVirtual Friendship, information, entertainment, a sense of
community. I would have to say that the family atmosphere and support that we give and get from each other keeps me coming back everyday. - beccanoles I love the truly caring atmosphere, the topics are so interesting, and it seems as though I gain some new knowledge every time I come here. - LynneC A sense of belonging to a global community of VA professionals where knowledge, caring and encouragement comes before back stabbing petty mindedness jealousies and politics ever gets a chance to exist. We have expertise abounding in marketing, business procedures, computer software and hardware, motivation, finances, desktop publishing, networking, etc. Again, the list is endless. - Sue Peel Information, people interacting. - johmac Knowledge. - Intaggar I am totally inspired by the professionalism, encouragement and sharing attitude of the forum hostess and moderators. Basically, as I read through the forum, I see others where I am now and where I want to be, and it reinforces the "I think I can, I know I can; look out - here I come!" mindset. - Sue Rodney I think it draws me in because I learn something new every time I visit, and it is just filled with the most amazing sharing, caring people. - YvonneMcCoy Everything that I need - advice, tips, resources, help and I get answers to my questions very fast. - GrainneFoley I keep coming back to the forum because I see a genuine caring and bond between the forum members.
