Good morning everyone! I have been an Administrative Assistant for more than 10 years and I am finally making the leap to go virtual. After finding myself unemployed, the thought of finding another job where I had to commute over an hour, be away from my kids, be tied to a desk and deal with office politics just seemed unbearable. I have considered doing virtual assisting for years but never had the confidence to go for it. I am experiencing a few challenges with getting up and running but have also had some tremendous progress as well. Unfortunately, I cannot start a business while claiming unemployment so I am unable to get my business license and get a business name until I am ready to lose that resource. This is proving challenging because there is a lot that goes into developing a business where having a business license and company name would streamline the process. However, I am very lucky that the city that I live in does not require a business license to work freelance. I have had some amazing success connecting on LinkedIn which resulted in my first paying project and potentially many others. I have submitted my first contract to a potential client and am awaiting its return. Any suggestions, guidance or help would be greatly appreciated. I am truly looking forward to getting to know all of you and contributing to the group.
