  1. Hello everyone My name is Afshan Ahmad and I'm a full time mummy. I have previously worked in a solicitor's office and for a bank for 4 years. After being full time stay at home mum for 4 years I now want to get back into working and focusing on my career alongside my family. Therefore, im interested in setting up my VA business from home and using my previous skills and experiences to get started. I would love if you could share your experience of being a VA please especially mummies.   3. Hello everyone! I am excited to now be a part of the VA Networking forum! I am currently going through the process of starting up my online VA business (still doing some training and market research). One target market that I have been interested in is nonprofit organizations. Whether I only focus on them or a broader market is still TBD. However, in researching training options to learn more about nonprofits and how I can help them I came across this website: http://www.nonprofitvas.com/ Seems like a great idea, but the site also seems a little sketchy to me. So two questions came to mind: 1) Has anyone heard of this person or training program and can you verify whether it's legitimate? If so, is it worth the money? 2) While I'm researching training programs, does anyone have recommendations on how to determine what programs are legit vs. scams? The amount of resources is overwhelming, so how do I decipher between the good resources and the not so good? Thanks everyone!
  4. Hello Everyone! This looks like a great community. My name is Patricia Marcero and I was given about 18 months notice that the corporate office I worked at was going to close. Since the main office is in NH, not practical to make that move from SoCal. Although I have 25+ years administrative and other support in the corporate world, decided I didn't want to go that route anymore. After much research, found the VA world and my daughter and I decided this would be a great career for us moving forward. So we just went 'live' 2 weeks ago with our business, Borderless Administrative Services LLC, and am excited to see what the future holds! We will be starting with general administrative support and adding other services as we go.   5. Hello everyone! I am a brand new VA based in Lincoln, UK. I don't have any clients yet but am busy networking locally and trying to get my network of friends and ex-colleagues to assist with the word of mouth marketing. I have a LOT to learn about the business and I look forward to reading about the tips, tricks and success stories here (and to learn from any "failure stories" too). I haven't identified my niche yet, if I do indeed have one. I have been working in the admin field since I left school in 1991 and also have some IT experience.   7. My start up is a Human Resources Virtual Assistance Agency. I had someone look at my website and they told me that my website should be more specific in telling my potential customers what they need, instead of me listing the services I provide. I am working on revising my website. In the meantime, I have yet to get my first client, though I know that my services are needed. I am planning to market myself to small to medium businesses. Places that employ people, but may not have someone there to do dedicated Human Resources functions. I can offer those at a cheaper rate than hiring an HR person, or ownership spending time receiving training attempting to learn HR ins and out themselves. Does anyone have any suggestions on gaining new clients? I try to go to networking events once every two weeks.
