Communicating with Team Members!

Recommended Posts

Interesting!

So, I've been investigating Backpackit and I'm feeling it might be more intuitive / easy to use versus BaseCamp. Anyone here used both or even used HighRise (also by 37signals)?

I am trying to compare different collaboration tools because BaseCamp just isn't serving our needs anymore ... though I can't put my finger on exactly why as I really like it! lol.

Karri at one stage I had over 30 projects open in Basecamp and while some clients were using it to communicate with us, the rest prefer email. Like you I just couldn't put my finger on why Basecamp wasn't working for me anymore so my trusty clone aka Project Manager and I tested a few before deciding on Client Spot. The developer happened to email me about what I thought and so I told him my wish list. The next month, they became available. Everything I've asked for since then, he's taken it on board and implemented it. Client Spot is also cheaper.

So back to the original question, I use Skype with my team for one on one questions and for our weekly team meeting (conference call). We also use Client Spot for task and time tracking. We were using MyHours but the site keeps going down and that made me cranky so we changed.

Backpackit is also very cool but I don't want to make another change for my team, especially now that I have an email relationship with the developer. I kind of like getting what I want :whistlin:

You too?? I thought it was just me but I hate talking on the phone. I just want to work and then spend time with my family. Very interesting.

Me five!!! (rather than too!)

That's a weird thing isn't it? I guess I do just find it really irritating to have to stop whatever I'm doing and answer the phone. If it's on email/Skype then it's dead easy to respond when I have a minute and we also have a "panic word" on Skype which sends a notification so I know I need to pay attention NOW!

I've also got everyone trained not to put people through to me and to send email. Mind you, there are some people who just insist upon it and I try to discourage it by either asking them to email me and I'll call them back or asking them to make an appointment to discuss whatever and then I can diarise it.

I thought it was just me who had an aversion to "real life" contact!!! I'm normal!!!!

Earlier, I was asking about Google Apps, but as I dig deeper into it, the only REALLY good thing is the FREE part. Apps doesn't have some of the elements that are available to a plain google account, for example.

I'm impressed by ClientSpot for being relatively uncomplicated and yet offering quite a lot.
