Wordpress, Amember and a forum

Recommended Posts

I am trying to figure out a couple of things:

Is there a good free forum that works well with Wordpress?

Second, is there anything I should know about integrating Amember and VBulletin with a Wordpress site? I have worked with both but not in conjuction with Wordpress.

I must either post the dumbest questions or the hardest ones! LOL

Hi Jodie,

That saying that there is no such thing as a stupid question--let's follow that path!

I would like to ask you how do you "embed" a link into a word or set of words? I see that you have a link posted at the bottom of your signature--can you share that bit of info? I have been trying to learn how to do this bit.

Thanks much,

When you are typing your message on this forum (I am assuming you mean how to embed a link on this forum), you would simply highlight the word or words you want to associate with the link, click on the button above where you are typing the message that is 2 buttons to the right of the smiley face (when your mouse is over it the words "insert link" will show up). A box will pop up for you to enter the URL (web address) for the link, and viola!

I use a forum plugin on NAVLA.org and it works really well so far. I just installed it about a week ago and I've got it set up, posted a few topics, etc. I got it at http://www.stuff.yellowswordfish.com/ and I think its just called Simple Forum.

I also tried BBPress and it was a pain in the butt, plus its not compatible with WP 2.6 as far as I know.

Dena,

So, if you want to link your site in your signature line, it would look like this:

[ url="http://www.denastoolsandtips.com" ]Dena's Tools & Tips[ /url ], but without the spaces in the brackets.

Does that help?

Patty,

Thanks to all for the replies, I did manage to figure that one out, I usually do, but I was at a frustration point when I put out the post.
