2 days & 2 weeks Blog Hopping Tour, Volunteers & Speakers

Hello,

Okay fellow bloggers and Internet talk show hosts, here's another opportunity to promote the virtual assisting industry by participating in the 2nd VA Podcast & Blog Hopping Tour.

Sharon Williams, OIVAC Chairperson, will travel the Internet superhighway from April 1st through May 12th promoting the industry convention and answering tough questions about virtual assisting.

Do you have a question you always wanted to ask? Seeking information to share with potential clients? Or, just like to obtain additional exposure for your blog or radio show? Whatever the reason, we'd love to stop by and chat.

Here's how it works:

- Select your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice stop dates (between April 1st and May 12th - Monday thru Friday only) and submit them immediately to info@oivac.com. You will be notified of the date Sharon will pay a visit.

- Develop 3-5 questions, anything you feel you, your clients or readers would like answered about the VA industry.

- Submit your questions to info@oivac.com by March 14th.

- Sit back and relax. Sharon will prepare insightful responses and return them to you for posting, etc.

Now here's the fun part!

In conjunction with the tour, we are running a puzzle solving contest -- and will provide clues along the way. If you and/or your readers solve the puzzle, the winning names will be pooled together for a drawing from an array of "super" prizes, during the International Virtual Assistant Day celebration (May 15th).

So, pick your dates, help spread the word about the industry, and let's have some fun!

Don't forget, pick your preferred dates and send them to info@oivac.com. The sooner you respond, the better chance your preferred date will be available.

REMINDER:

Last call for Convention volunteers and speakers. If you would like to volunteer on a committee or be a speaker, please submit the appropriate form by Saturday.

Volunteer form - http://www.oivac.com/form-volunteer.htm

Speaker form - http://www.oivac.com/form-speaker.htm

Okay, that's all folks!

It’s that time again… time for the special IVAD event! This year’s event will take place on Friday, May 15th at 5:15pm EST in the OIVAC online conference room.

Part of this event will be the award ceremony which will include prize giveaways.

We will also be providing the winners of the Janet Jordan Achievement Award and the Thomas Leonard International Virtual Assistant of Distinction Award with prize packs. These packs will not only include the recipient’s physical and electronic awards, they will also include other items generously donated by fellow VAs and other businesses, such as yours.

As mentioned above, we would like to know if you would like to contribute to this year’s event. In return, we will display your prize and contact information on the OIVAC website. We will also acknowledge your contribution during the IVAD event.

Also, we have the Great VA Giveaway. For this giveaway, we will put a link on the giveaway page of the OIVAC website which will link back to your site. When a VA sees something that interests them and would like to receive your giveaway, they will click on the link and enter your site. On your site will be a subscribe area. To receive your giveaway, individuals will need to subscribe to your newsletter, ezine, etc. This is a great opportunity for you to build your subscriber list and increase your access to potential clients by simply giving away an item/service worth $10 or more. Also, the Great VA Giveaway will be promoted via a press release which will also drive traffic to your site.

If you could please let us know if you can contribute, we would truly appreciate it. Please advise how many (3 would be great for IVAD… one for each award recipient and one to give out as a prize at the IVAD event; plus one item for the Great VA Giveaway) and if you would like to use the same description or something new.

The 4th Annual Online International Virtual Assistant Convention (OIVAC) will soon be announced with even more great speakers, workshops and networking sessions.

The OIVAC culminates around the International Virtual Assistant Day (IVAD) which takes place on Friday, May 15, 2009. Part of this special day’s events is the presentation of two prestigious awards to VAs who have had an impact on and success in the Virtual Assistant industry.

The Thomas Leonard International Virtual Assistant of Distinction Award is to honor a Virtual Assistant who has been in business for at least 5 years and who has contributed to the industry in such a way that it has provided a positive impact on many others and helped them to build a successful business. Tom Leonard is credited with being the person who used the term virtual assistant as describing the person he worked with virtually. (More information about Thomas Leonard can be found at http://www.oivac.com/vadayawards.htm.)

The Janet Jordan Achievement Award is to honor a newcomer Virtual Assistant who has been in business for less than 5 years and has reached a milestone in their short career in the industry. Janet Jordan, who passed away in January 2006, was a recognized industry leader in the virtual assistance field. She founded Virtual Assistance U and helped launch many VA practices. (More information about Janet Jordan can be found at http://www.oivac.com/vadayawards.htm.)

We need nominations from associates of VAs who fall into one of the two categories above and then we will be asking the nominees to show us why they deserve this award. We are giving them the chance to shine.

More information on the entire process can be found in the Eligibility Criteria documents available at http://www.oivac.com/vadayawards.htm

Nominations are due by March 20th, 2009 so hurry over to the above address, download and read over the Criteria and Nomination forms and submit your nominations to nominations@oivac.com before that date. We will then forward the Award Submission forms to the nominees to be submitted to us.

OIVAC Postponed

OIVAC's steering committee has made the decision to postpone the OIVAC until October, as this year we have not received the same high level of registrations as previously experienced. As we can see no logical reason for this, we are putting it down as yet another statistic of the economy.

The new date for the convention is 1 - 3 October, 2009, and we will continue to market the event during the coming months to ensure increased attendance is achieved.

We will not let the economy damper deter our efforts to recognize VAs and the celebration of our contributions to businesses located around the world. As a result, we will conduct the International Virtual Assistants Day (IVAD) celebration, on Friday, May 15, 2009, at 5:00 p.m. EDT, as previously planned. This is OUR annual day of recognition, and we encourage VAs from around the globe to continue to participate in this celebration.

The Thomas Leonard Virtual Assistant of Distinction and Janet Jordan award winners will be announced, and we will be providing tons of FREE giveaways to attendees. The link to the meeting room for this gala event will be distributed next week. So please mark your calendars and plan to attend.

In addition, we will host several FREE pre-event activities between now and October, so look for future announcements about these dates.

Thanks again for supporting us and we are sorry for the inconvenience. Having said that, we are extremely excited to now be working towards a more positive and energetic convention in October once the "doom and gloom" of the economy has eased.

Kind regards,

Sharon Williams and the OIVAC Steering Committee
