Internet Marketing Services - hours, rates, etc.

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I just started VAClassroom's Internet Marketing Specialist Training Program, and in Module 1 I'm learning to do an Online Competitive Analysis for a potential client.

It's overwhelming the time that needs to be put into one of these, but interesting and I was just wondering if there were currently any Internet Marketing VA's out there who offer this as a service, and if so, as a guesstimate, how many hours do you attach to the service and what price do you quote?

Thanks very much in advance!

Hey Jackie,

Congratulations on getting started with VAClassroom. I love their courses!

True, competitive analysis takes a long time to get done, but remember that you are learning how to do it now. You will easily be able to cut your time spent on it down, once you 'get' it.

I suggest that once you are finished with your homework lesson for that module, that you do the exercise again a few times - for your own company - for your spouse's or friend's company - a couple of different industries, anyway, to repeat your process. You will notice a marked improvement in your time to do it.

And once you know how long it will take, then you can set a rate and let your potential clients know exactly how long you will spend working on it, and what they will get in return.

Hope that helps,

Tracey

Jackie,

I agree with Tracey. Do this exercise several times to get a feel for how long it takes. Keep good records of the time required for each step so you have this information available next time you need to respond to a prospective client. This works for a number of VA tasks (writing a press release, editing a well-written article, stuffing and mailing, sending out ezines, creating autoresponders, etc.) so practice now to be prepared for requests for proposals.

Hi Jackie,

I took the internet marketing course through VA Classroom. Even though I finished I find myself having to go back and review the modules. I don't want to forget anything. I am also taking the social media marketing course. There is so much great information. I keep picking up different bits of information the more I listen to the modules.

Thank you Beth!

I know what you mean about going back to the modules - I just finished the SMM course and I'm so glad to be able to go back & review! So much info to absorb but Craig's videos and examples are fabulous and so easy to follow!

Hi Jackie,

I love my VAClassrooms class I just finished on being a Virtual Event Specialist. I am new to all this and just kicking off my business, but there is a free program called Chrometa that I downloaded to help me track time. That might help for billable hours for projects. I can't tell you a lot about it yet as I am still figuring it out myself, but after looking around it seems to be pretty good.

Hi! I also took the course from VAClassroom and has quite satisfied with the contents covered. For me, the online competitor analysis did take some time for me to organize. But having installed 2 toolbars on my firefox did help smooth things up a bit. The two toolbars I've installed is seobook and alexa, they show the page ranking of google, alexa ranking and related links. Hope this can help you.

I haven't tried any online course and I am so happy that I get clients by charging them cheap. I learned the basic of internet marketing by just reading and applying them on my personal online stuff.

Hello Jackie,

I haven't tried any of the courses here yet, but I do offer competitor analysis. I basically use this really cool Marketing Grader from Hubspot, Woorank, Alexa and WebRank SEO. It does cut my time down significantly. As for rates, I avoid charging by the hour, so I have a package offer starting at 150€.

Hope that helps,

~Eleni
