Guest Posted August 1, 2010 Hello All, It has taken a while but I have finally narrowed it down that bookkeeping services is my niche. When I receive inquiries about my services, most often the inquiry is about my bookkeeping services. Most of my clients are bookkeeping clients. This actually works out very well for me because I have always enjoyed working in different aspects of finances whether it's bookkeeping or budget planning assistance. I am interested in feedback on how other VAs in the forum charge for bookkeeping services. For example, do you charge by the hour or by monthly bookkeeping plan? If you use monthly bookkeeping plan method, do you have different levels of bookkeeping plans? Also, up until this year most of my clients have been 1-time clients. How do I encourage clients to hire me on an on-going retainer long-term basis? From my own observations and experiences, I believe the clients I have had don't understand the virtual assistant industry that I CAN work with them on a long-term basis. Thanks, Barb

Lily Chambers 618 Posted August 20, 2016 I charge an hourly fee for the first 3 months until I get a feel for how much work is involved then offer a monthly pre-pay at a discounted rate. The pre-pay expires at the end of the month and any hours over the pre-pay are charged at the discounted rate. I obtain regular clients by being the best when I do a 1-off project. If they are happy with my services, I also ask for referrals.
vaoffice 7 Posted August 24, 2016 sounds good Lily. I should keep that in mind. what is the hourly rate in dollars now these days? I used to work for a salary back in South Africa, so have no idea.
