Need Laptop Suggestions

Recommended Posts

Good morning/afternoon/evening all! I'm in the process of advising my boss on purchasing a laptop for the shop here, something that will run heavy duty and automotive diagnostic software. I'm not too sure of the differences with processors. I know my home computer has an Intel i3, but I'm wondering if going to an i7 would be more advisable. Also...what would you suggest for the hdd?

Thanks nerds! (said in an 'I'm not worthy' tone...much adoration!!) :flowers:

An i7 would definitely be a better and faster investment in the long run. Did he give you a budget to work with? Maybe start with that and go from there as it will give you a better idea of what to look for and narrow it down a bit.

Check this link out, it's from a search I did on dealnews.com. I would 2nd the notion that an i7 laptop is the way to go. If it were me, being a very techy guy, I would look for one with 2 hdds in it, one of them being a SSD.

If you want more of an explanation please just let me know.

Thanks Marc, I'll keep that in mind. I'm hoping to get a laptop for myself in a few months so that'll help. The company just picked up one from Costco I think, and I'm not sure it'll do the job, but that's what they got for now.

if your senior needs a laptop that will perform better on heavy work then configration of i7 processor with 1tb hard disc and ram not less than 4gb with 2 gb graphic card will be required. I think window 7 ultimate is the best OS.

Why Windows Ultimate instead of Window 7 Pro. There is a 36% difference in price. What does Ultimate offer that 7 Pro does not?
