Questions about PLR

Recommended Posts

On my other thread, Tawnya suggested that I consider selling PLR.

This is something that I had planned to do about a year ago, but then I read some discussions somewhere that "selling PLR is dead".

I *do* want to offer some PLR for sale, but don't want to spend the time setting up and writing the content if it's just going to be another dead-end (unless you're already established).

Does anybody here offer PLR for sale, or do many of you buy PLR for use in your own businesses?

It might have been on the Warrior Forum that I read this about PLR being dead, but don't remember for sure. It had to have been somewhere major, or I most likely wouldn't have been put off so easily.

Check out Nicole Dean and Melissa Ingold PLR websites. Their PLR is awesome quality stuff and may give you ideas. coachingplrcontent & easyplr They have 2 or 3 websites.

Some PLR is junk and that stuff is dead because it gets over used and Google doesn't like content that is duplicated. But good PLR is not over sold and can be edited to be personalized for the user's website, emails, reports, etc.

Thank you for replying, Katharine. I'll add those names to my list to check out.

Earlier today I e-mailed Tiffany Dow because I have her PLR ATM e-book, and asked her the same question. She assured me that PLR is NOT dead, which was a relief to find out, and now I'm forging ahead.

I've spent the afternoon looking at the PLR sellers' websites that Tawnya had suggested, as well as the websites of several other PLR sellers that seem to be mentioned frequently.

With my particular background, I think selling PLR will be a much better fit for me than trying to do general VA-type work.

Tiffany Dow included in her e-book several other services that one could add along with their PLR offerings, thereby functioning as somewhat of a VA, so I think that will work for me.

I buy PLR articles for use in my blog when I don't have time to write articles myself. I do, however, personalize the PLR articles before posting them.

I got a real surprise last night...As I was looking around at the different PLR sites, I happened across one that was offering samples from several PLR providers.

I downloaded samples from a few providers to look at, and was shocked to find several typos in the samples provided by one person, and I couldn't even open the samples from a couple of the other providers because they sent Word files only, and I don't have Word on this computer. I didn't try opening the files with Open Office, simply because I didn't think of it at the time, but I had read that it's better to send as .text files, in case people don't have Word.

I won't mention the names of the people, but I was expecting something much different. It was an eye-opener.

I asked this question on my other thread, but am going to post it here too, in case somebody sees this one first...

My question has to do with my website...I already have my website up and some content on it for the things I sell on Etsy, Cafe Press, and Zazzle.

I also have a website started, but no content on it yet, that is my own name dot com. Because I don't know if I'll limit myself to selling PLR only, other digital products I create, and possibly add some services in the future, do you think it would be okay to use this site for my PLR, or should I set up yet another separate site for that? Could I have the PLR store as another page on my site?

Or could I have it as a separate page on my design site, to keep everything I do together on a "hub", or would that be too confusing for customers?

Also, since I don't know exactly yet whether I'll limit myself to just PLR, or offer other types of writing and graphics, should I go with the name "__Media" or "__PLR"?

Is it okay to buy a domain name for the PLR part of my business and just "point" it to wherever I end up putting my PLR store, or should I set up an entirely new site for that?

Thanks for any suggestions you might have.

Firstly, there is a ton of crap PLR out there as you may have already run into. I recommend the PLR in this thread only:

http://www.vanetworking.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=23629

I'm going to assume from your post that you want to start up a new website and offer business PLR ebooks on it for your visitors to buy? Possibly on marketing online, social media, starting up a business online, etc?

You have to first decide on a niche if you are starting up a website wherein you want to market PLR stuff plus maybe some affiliate links to other people's products. You can learn more about affiliate marketing at my blog here: http://vaaffiliates.com/training/

Here's a video you can watch if you are interested in marketing VA products off your VA website as an example.

http://vaaffiliates.com/video/

So lets start there first, what type of PLR or affiliate sites would you like to market on your website and what will you be calling your website?

Once you figure out your niche, we can take the next step to optimizing it to rank high in the search engines and incorporate some search engine marketing traffic techniques like social media marketing.

Baby steps :)

Hi, Tawnya...Actually, I'm going to be a PLR provider myself. I'll start off with writing article packs for sale, then branch out to writing other stuff later, such as blog posts, etc.

My website will be Orange Kitty PLR (not much of anything there yet, just starting to set it up), and my tagline is, "PLR that's the cat's meow".

I sell my artwork under the name Orange Kitty Studio, so wanted to keep everything I do related.

Thanks, Tawnya!

I'm not sure what my niche/niches will be yet, but I'm pretty sure it won't be Internet marketing. I think I'd be more apt to write about "homebody" stuff--home, garden, pets, products, preparedness, and other stuff. I'll probably end up writing a variety of stuff, and see what, if anything, people will want.

Who knows--it might end up being something completely different too. I'll have to wait and see.

I'm happy to say that I've got some basic content up on my website now, along with my first pack of PLR. I'll be adding more as I go along.

Thanks to the encouragement, information, and suggestions on this thread, I'm glad to say that I've found some real direction for my business, and have just put my fourth pack of PLR articles on my site.

I'm going to continue creating PLR, but I'm also going to offer ghostwriting, and will have some graphics packs available as well--as soon as I have a chance to work on them, that is. Never enough hours in a day!

In the past, whenever I had considered being a VA, I just couldn't picture myself as what I call a "generalist", but with this new direction, I'm excited. I can't wait to get up and get to work each morning, and the days just fly by. There are so many things to do, so many things to create... :-)

Hi Becky, I was looking at your PLR website and thought that it would be a good idea if you gave a free PLR pack or article to people who sign up to your list. That way people will have a reason to sign up and they also get samples of your work that they can use and decide if they want to purchase from you.

Just a suggestion, because whenever I find a new PLR website I usually download their free pack and see how I like it and then from there I decide if I am going to purchase PLR from them.
