Narrowing Your Niche

Recommended Posts

Hello, my fellow VAs!  How do you narrow down your niche (for the sake of marketing), but you also want to be open to other possibilities?  I keep second-guessing myself, and it's driving me crazy!

I've been in business for over 6 years and still don't have a niche narrowed down. I enjoy the variety too much and feel that I would get bored if I specialized in one area/client.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, it will probably come to you once you start working with more people.

One idea is to create a few landing pages on your website directed towards the different people you'd like to work with / different services you'd like to provide.

That way you can market to those specific people by using the different landing pages.

Here's a couple of oldie (but goodie) posts that may help you figure out how to narrow your niche down more.

Also if you do a search for niche there are tons of related posts on this topic already in the forum. Remember the search feature here is very valuable.

Thank you, Danielle and Tawnya. Because of my legal background, I'm drawn to solo/small firm lawyers and virtual paralegals, but I also want to service educators and other small businesses, including virtual assistants.

I keep revising my website and am getting tired of it, so I'll leave it alone for now, so I can move on to some actual marketing.

Again, I thank you both!

As some fellow members have already suggested you some helpful links, I am going to share my own experience here only. We actually narrow down our niche according to the fact of who are our clients, in other words to whom we are providing our services. For example if photographers are our targeted clients then we should have to target how can we reach them, and what they are looking for. Along with direct niche we also try to target the topic or site which is closely related to our niche! Hope you may get some idea from my words, good luck.
