Need advice or help to create a website

I am looking at starting up a VA business and providing general administrative assistant services along with medical transcription work.  A little bit about myself is that I have over 20 years experience working as an administrative assistant doing just mainly general admin work such as data entry, making travel arrangements, reception, some customer service, and most recently I started doing Medical Transcription work from home.  

I would like to be able to set up a website for myself once I have a company name picked for me, but as I have not specifically specialized in a particular area such as social media, graphic designer, etc. what I should be putting onto my website.  I am hoping that I could get some feedback from someone here or perhaps be able to look at some samples of websites so that I have an idea of what to do.

Hello and welcome to VAnetworking!

I suggest googling, Virtual Assistant, and you will find lots of VA's websites and you can see what they put on theirs. 

To get started, I'd suggest, the main home page with how you can help clients, a contact page, a services page, your rates and testimonials.

Danielle has some good advice with Googling examples of others.

I would start with the homepage and treat it as a story where each chapter is like a section and covers a specific objective.

For example, the first section would be your what you do (ie Online Assistance), why (outcome ie help make you more sales), how (method ie through project management) and who (your niche if applicable).

Then try and think of the next question the reader would ask and make a section out of that. They might ask things like:

  • How can that help me? (benefits)
  • Who are you in a nutshell? (about snippet, link to about page)
  • Why should I believe you? (proof factors like testimonials)
  • Why should I act now? (snippet on pain point)
  • What should I do next? (call to action like book a strategy session)
  • Where can i find out more? (blog, optins)

And like Danielle said you  can create other inner pages like about, testimonials etc...
