Hey gang!

I'm wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. I haven't worked with csv files much and I guess I need a "crash" course. Do any of you know of a good tutorial?

I guess my first question about this type of file is once it has been opened in Excel do you have to reformat the information each time or can you open a csv file into a spreadsheet already formated? What I will be downloading as a csv file are Monthly Sales Reports and I don't really want to reformat every month. :(

Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Jennifer,

When you open Excel file, you just need to save it as CSV (comma delimited) file.

I hope that it helps. If you need any more explanation e-mail to me at almira55@telus.net

Hi Jennifer:

This is what I have done for something similar. On the first spreadsheet, I start a macro and do all the formatting changes I need to do. Once the formatting changes have been applied, I stop the recording of the macro. Then I save the file as an Excel document. The formatting changes will not keep if you save it as a .csv file.

After that, every time I get a new update .csv file for this particular project, I run the macro and the formatting is completed in a blink of an eye an I save the updated file as an Excel document.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Naomi, this sounds like exactly what I need however.....I'm going to have to brush up on my marco skills too.

I may call on you if I run into trouble; I hope that's ok. ;)

Thanks again!

Hey Naomi!

Well I've recorded the macro and completed all the formatting changes I think I need to do. I'm just waiting for the April financials to come through to see if it works when I run this macro.

Cross your fingers for me. :crossfingers: This will be so much easier....thanks again!
