Hi everyone! :)

I was volunteered to take over the website for the business referral networking group I belong to, you know how it is, Naomi will you take over the website?, as the person is walking out the door. I of course looked at the previous website and was not happy with it, so I designed a brand spanking new one. All I can say is that since this was pro-bono for the group, I hope they recommend someone to me for designing their site! LOL

P.S. When I was doing this site I found a terrific site to encrypt e-mails. My other place was having a problem with their generator, so I had to find something else. This one is even better. I can put several encrypted e-mails on a page without the script getting confused. :-)

Another great design Naomi!! I hope the Network group appreciates this and it pans out for you in referrals too.

I needed an email script like this the other day so thanks! Did you use it for everyone's email on this site? A ton of scripting if you did.

Hi:

Only recomenation is to remove the "Let's be blunt:" statement from the "What do we do section"

I wish I could; however, the guy who wrote the text for the website is the President, and his business is marketing. Don't think he would take to kindly to my telling him to take it out. Of course, I always could say another VA told me to do it! ;)

Hi Tawnya:

Yes, I used it for everyone's e-mail address. It wasn't too bad, since it was mainly cutting and pasting. I really think this one better than the other I had. I like the fact that I can have so many scripts on the page, without anything (thus far) getting messed up! :D

I just thought of something, would all that scripting cause problems with the site optimization? I wouldn't think it would be a major deal, since it is not on the first page.

When a spider enters a website, it starts reading looking for keyword rich content. Using a ton of scripting in the top of your webpage code can deter a spider away since they don't automatically see the content. Saying that however with regards to your site, its not an issue imo since the benefits of no spam for each user far outweigh the benefits of having that specific page rank high in the search engines.

WOW again Naomi! The site looks rich and elegant. You are so gifted!

I hope that some of the newer VA’s will use your encryption link or some other reliable method (PHP form) to hide their e-mail addresses. It is very easy to set up filters to catch spam, but it is a real hassle when a spambot scrapes your website and uses your business email address as the “from” address for hundreds of Viagra or porn spam messages.

HTH,

Carol

Congratulations Naomi - oh Great Guru! You never cease to amaze me.

What a terrific website and what a very talented person you are. :yay:

Hopefully your colleagues at the Business Network appreciate your talents.

Have you been able to secure any clients via this network?

I am dithering as to whether or not to join the local Chamber of Commerce as it is $300 CDN.

How did everyone get their first client - was it through a friend, your websites, or what?

I joined my Chamber of Commerce last year and you only get out of it what you put into it.

ie) put in lots of money via advertising and attending events....and you will get some networking out of it.

ie) pay membership dues and never attend a meeting or luncheon, etc,.... you will get nothing out of it

I found that the membership fees are high plus the extra monies they want you to spend to go to networking events is expensive over the year. If they would include these events in their membership fees, I would be a much happier camper.

Saying that however, I do attend some of the events when I can afford to and its a networking hub. I do not yet advertise in their marketing material but plan to this summer and will let you know the results from it.
