I have my first PAYING local client. I took some of the advice I got here and started answering newspaper ads from the local classifieds. I sent him my resume, and a PDF packet that includes a link to my website. After reviewing the resumes he got (and his computer crashing) he has hired me for a single project to see if we work well together.

Thanks Everyone!!

I didn't take $$ upfront despite instructions to do so. But he paid me cash and I will follow up about working on a retainer

Meanwhile I still have other leads to follow up on. There was a writer's conference this week, and a couple of people who are talking about using me full time were at that conference.

Hopefully things will grow quickly

Carrie

The first one is the hardest, or so I've heard. My dad has always told me not to disparage the day of small beginnings -- all things start small, it doesn't mean they won't grow to be huge and fantastic and amazing. Great job, can't wait to hear of your future successes!!
