Kathie Thomas, owner of VA Trainer and A Clayton's Secretary, will be presenting "Hidden Benefits". Do you know where your children are and what they're doing when they're not with you? Imagine how difficult it must be for parents working fulltime and not having the input into their children's lives? I watched my children's friends go through challenges and trouble because they spent more time in the company of their peers, rather than their parents and was grateful my own children were able to come home to their mother every day after school. Kathie M. Thomas is a successful Virtual Assistant with a 13+ year old practice. She was a VA before the term 'virtual assistant' was in use. The founder of A Clayton's Secretary, established March 1994, she pioneered the Virtual Assistant industry in Australia. The network was formally established in April 1996. Prior to establishing her business she had a background of 23 years' secretarial/administrative experience in the corporate world, working for CEOs and MDs as well as project groups. Kathie has over 20 years' experience with computers and software. Kathie also has experience as a trainer and began her business teaching others how to use Microsoft Office products in 1994. Kathie has two accreditations in the Virtual Assistant Industry as a Master Virtual Assistant and an Accredited Secretary Online. She has been accredited as a Public Speaker through the National Speakers Association in Australia. She is also a member of the International Association of Coaching Kathie currently manages a network of virtual assistants with members in 16 countries and is moderator for two well-established VA chat forums which have over 1,300 virtual assistant members collectively. Kathie is an industry leader who frequently speaks at public seminars and workshops throughout Australia about working virtually. She is also a Steering Committee member of the OIVAC and was Master of Ceremonies for the inaugural industry awards presententation at the Convention in 2006. During 2006 Kathie undertook a study of the Proverbs 31 Woman and recognised that this is what many Christian women are seeking - to be at home with their families, whilst contributing to their family income. Kathie is author of several 'how to' books about the Virtual Assistant Industry and operating a business at home, and with articles published in many business and Christian magazines over several years.     We will be honored with the presence of our very own Candy Beauchamp of OffAssist. The topic will be 'Interviewing the Client, a Two Way Street'. Candy is the owner/operator of OffAssist and brings to it a background heavily steeped in bookkeeping for small to mid-sized businesses. She grew up near Charleston, SC and spent several years in Honolulu, HI before moving to Austin, TX in 1998. OffAssist began as a concept in 1999 and officially opened its doors in 2002. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her two children. Candy credits her success to her amazing family and friends, who have stood by her while growing OffAssist into what it is today.
