The market it there and I've read so many success stories. However, it seems like I can't really get off of the ground. Like another poster said, I've already run into a few scammers and it can be really disappointing and discouraging. Anyhow, I look forward to networking and learning from everyone here!
  6. My goal is to pick up enough buisiness for me to make a deacent living but not so much that I can't handel it by my self. What I'm thinking is I should get a web site up, something simple, hopefully just a free site. Then I'm thinking of making some rack cards and jsut pining them up on bulitin boards etc at office buildings in Vegas, i live about a hundred miles form there but i think a few rack cards might get me a couple clients to start. I'm hoping to do every thing over e mail or e fax as i don't have a land line.
  7. Hello everyone! I am Amiee from Marietta, GA, a larger suburb/city about 20 miles northwest of Atlanta. Ive been a licensed realtor and doing real estate assistant work for 13 years, the last 4 virtually, mainly for one large real estate team but am currently branching out to other industries related (i.e. builders) and unrelated, mostly getting business through word of mouth at this point. I have done everything from office and operations management, to contract management, marketing and bookkeeping. I have lived in and around the area for 40 years and am married with two children, late elementary/middle school aged so virtual work really gives me the flexibility to be where I need to be when I need to be there! Happy to find a group to join as I branch out and find my footing in this exciting career Amiee

  9. It is so easy to create a book and have it published by Createspace for less than $2. Most VA's have a report they give away for free to get an email list,,,well you can expand that report to 24-50 pages and create a book that will impress your clients no end and your book will not end up in a pile forgotten like so many business cards do. Your book will create the impression that you are leader in your field,,someone to be trusted and someone who knows what they are talking about. I created two books - WordPress Starter Guide For Authors and Why hire a Virtual Assistant I have even created a coloring book for Adults that I give as gifts to my clients to help relieve stress. I also include a package of colored pencils to get them started. As a former Librarian, I love books so giving a book out instead of a business card is a natural thing for me to do.

  14. Hi Everyone, I've noticed one contractor posted their bookkeeping package rates on their Craigslist ads. 1) Should I take advantage of "free" advertising and post my hourly or package rates into Craigslist ads until I build enough of a clientele to afford to put up a website? 2) Or is this strategy ill advised as I run the risk of potentially being labelled a "fly-by-night"? 3) Do any of you advise using offline newspaper ads for marketing a new bookkeeping practice the way plumbers use them to advertise their businesses? Any feedback, insight, or information would be greatly appreciated! Have a Happy New Year!

Even if we aren't selling products or services that are directly related to school, we can still use the timeframe to incorporate a marketing blitz! Check out the rest of the article here: http://sbinfocanada.about.com/od/marketing/a/Back-To-School-Marketing-Ideas.htm Back to School Marketing Ideas Marketing ideas for a back to school tie-in. If your products or services have no obvious back to school tie-in, you can still create one. Stretch your brain and forge the back to school connection such as in these marketing ideas: Whether selling services or product, a nutrition-related business might offer information on preparing healthy school lunches or even a workshop. A business selling cleaning products might back to school market its products as great for cleaning dorm rooms and sell a special "studentpak" of products. A watch repair business might run a "be on time for school" special.
