  1. Hello VA Community, I recently had a potential client reach out to me for services I don't provide. Any recommendations to provide in a response? Thank you in advance, Angela
  2. Would like to know if setting up a website and going for the affiliate marketing is a good starting point. I would like to make some money. I am not ready yet to contact clients, any suggestions.
  3. Hey everyone! I hope you're doing great! So I've taken a lot of advice on how to find clients (I'm completely new with no existing clients) and one I find intriguing is joining facebook and linkedin groups of your target market so you can easily directly talk to them. So I've done that (one of my main targets is travel bloggers) but I'm not quite sure how to say to them that I'm offering my services without being spammy and risk getting kicked out of the group. Most of the groups are just about bloggers helping each other out with post likes and sharing articles. Are there any techniques you all have used that tend to work well? Thanks in advance! Jack Hamm
  4. Has anyone tried getting clients with greeting cards? If so what is your success rate and what wording (example) did you use? I have looked all over the web and got some ideas, but I'm not a person to put all my eggs in one basket so I am looking to fellow VA's for help as well. As soon as I find out and put something together I'll gladly show my results. Ty in advance. Jason virtualassistancebyjason.webs.com
  5. I have worked for a few clients now and I am now looking for new clients aside from the one I have now. I have a letter drafted up asking for referrals. Should I email this letter to my former clients or snail mail it to them? Jason
  6. Hello All! I am a NEW VA with LOTS of valuable professional experience from my previous employment. I am confident in my value and those who know me also know my value. In NO way am I patting my own back and giving myself kudos, BUT rather it quite the opposite. I have expressed interest from potential clients, but No clients as of yet. If I was looking for a VA, and not really knowing her potential, but like her experience and background I would be open to a "Test-Drive" prior to buying. I feel this is a WIN-Win for both of us. Benefits to the client are obvious. My benefit: it will put me on the VA map, its an opportunity to prove my value, it will create a valuable testimonial and in turn will attract others to pay for my services. I am sure there are lots of other benefits. I want to offer a "Test-Drive" to a local small business owner but not sure how to propose it or create the details around the offer. So this is where I REALLY need your HELP by giving your advice, suggestions, recommendations and or Resources. I would LOVE to hear about your experience with offering a "Test-Drive" to a potential client. Should I offer my services to a potential client for FREE? How long do I provide services for? 30-60-90 days? What services do I offer? For example, do I do everything on their list or ask what their immediate needs are and provide services for the top 1-2 needs? What are some examples of the dialogue between me and the potential client? In other words, I want the potential client to see the value and benefit of this offer. Thanks so much in advance! I REALLY look forward to reading your replies! Michelle Downing~Virtually Aligned Business Services Virtuallyaligned.com
  7. Hi Still looking at a name for my new start up and would like to know peoples thoughts on a domain I have purchased. May or may not use it but building a website on a sub domain of the same. The domain is (virtualwebservices.co.uk) I really preferred the .com which is available but over $2k kerching! I envisage most clients of mine will be UK based like me but I think maybe the .com would help me get non UK clients. So my questions are 1. Do you think a .co.uk domain will make it difficult to get clients from outside of the UK? 2. Is the name and domain a good fit for my new business or a little boring!? (My niche will include social media marketing, e-mail marketing, making wordpress sites and seo services) Would be great to get some feedback! Many Thanks Dan
  8. One of the biggest perks of subcontracting is being able to keep clients even if you don't have the tools, time or skills in your own VA firm. I'd be curious who here has turned away a client project because one of the three items mentioned above? Did you realize there was an option to subcontract that service out or was it you just didn't want to go down that path?

    Time Scheduling Application

I will need to be setting up interviews for a podcast. Rather than going back and forth I've seen people use applications you can see when someone is available and schedule. There is a free one called "when is good." Has anyone used it or have other suggestions for a reasonably priced one?
  10. Hello everyone! I am just kind of getting started on my own. I have worked in the field for several years, but I have never tried it on my own under my business name. I have worked for other VAs doing work for them, but I have never bagged my own client. Soooo..... What contracts and paperwork do you have your new clients sign when they sign up with you? Do you have a new client bundle? What all does it include? Do you have templates you would be willing to share? How did you get your first client?
  11. Over my few years of being a VA I've had a couple clients that just kind of disappear cause their ventures don't work out or things come up in life. My question is, how long do you keep all their stuff on your computer? Like for example I had one client that moved away from their online business venture and I had a ton of stuff saved on my computer from working with them. Eventually after two years I just trashed it all. After all I'm not an online backup system. I've had this situation a few times and never know what to do with all the files. Do I just hold onto them forever? Maybe I should put something into my contract saying I'm not responsible for keeping your files as I'm not a storage facility. They should have copies of everything, but I know with many of my current clients, they are always asking me to send files to them cause they've missed placed them somehow. What do all of you do in these situations? Or have you even had this situation come about?

    Communication with Client

I know we've done it before, but I thought a fresh discussion about communication is key.
  13. My start up is a Human Resources Virtual Assistance Agency. I had someone look at my website and they told me that my website should be more specific in telling my potential customers what they need, instead of me listing the services I provide. I am working on revising my website. In the meantime, I have yet to get my first client, though I know that my services are needed. I am planning to market myself to small to medium businesses. Places that employ people, but may not have someone there to do dedicated Human Resources functions. I can offer those at a cheaper rate than hiring an HR person, or ownership spending time receiving training attempting to learn HR ins and out themselves. Does anyone have any suggestions on gaining new clients? I try to go to networking events once every two weeks.
