  1. What's everyone's take on writer's block? There were some years where I struggled to make the words come. I would sit at my computer, staring aimlessly at a blank screen and end up on Fackbook browsing my news feed. Some familiar? I'm not sure if I believe in blocks though, because I can usually dig myself out of it. Here are some causes that stops me from writing or blogging: Too many options and not enough focus when it comes to topic Fear that my writing will be criticised and that it has to be perfect Editing as I write Just not feeling like putting fingers to the keyboard Feeling uninspired and chaotic But what I found was working with structure, frameworks and outlines can really keep the flow. Reading others work and studying headlines can get you inspired. What is your secret to getting in the flow? How do you overcome this "block". PS Writing online should also have a purpose.   2. Hi Everyone! I'm just a few months into the VA business and have a few writing assignments lined up: a few blog posts, an eBook and possibly creating a whole new blog for a client. My question is this: when you're a VA and do ALL the writing for an eBook, a blog post, or an eCourse, how is copyright handled? If a client wants to post your blogpost as theirs (after you've worked really hard and written it really well), should you expect them to give you credit? Should you ask for it? Are you allowed to post the article on your own blog since you wrote it? Help! I've looked all over the internet and can't find an answer. Thanks so much!!! Shannon
  3. Welcome to Data & Document MD. My name is Betty Danis and I'm a Virtual Assistant specializing in writing, editing, proofreading, electronic research, data entry, bookkeeping, client management, and general organizing techniques. I gear my work towards "public service companies" (like municipalities and other small government organizations, special districts, workforce centers, senior centers, and not-for-profits. I also pride myself on the work I do for individuals needing assistance in all or any of my specialty areas - anything from constructing a simple cover letter to finding the right health care professional or insurance coverage to typing, proofing, and editing "The Great American Novel". I worked "in-office" as an Administrative Manager for the Public Works Department (our "unsung" heroes!) of the Town of Breckenridge, Colorado for 26 years. However, a great deal of that work was done virtually from my home or while I was traveling. Since my retirement (in 2012), I have been working virtually from home on a part-time basis (taking care of personal issues as well as working with a few clients). My "life situation" demands that I continue to work part-time (15-20 hours/week) but it's time for me to go public. I have purchased a domain name for my website and plan on having that up and running within the next month. Stay tuned for updates on that! Right now, I am really in need of a logo - for my website, my business cards, and other marketing materials. This kind of design is not my area of expertise ( ) so if there's anyone out there that can work with me on that, I'd LOVE to hear from you! I can pay you or trade work - whatever works for you!   6. Yay! I have found it! I am now "The Virtual Wordsmith." I don't have a website yet, but that is next on my list. For now, as part of my marketing campaign, I have a Blogger Account. This will at least allow me to get my name out there, and let people know what I can do. Then when I get my website, I can share with my followers. Does this sound like a good idea?   7. I've seen many tips on article publishing and marketing, so I've decided to post a little thought here. When you've finished your cool article about pets, flowers, or anything in between, you want the world to see it, right? Right. But where to publish it? Well, the main question is - what's your goal with this article? Is it a self-promotion, a sales pitch, or money-making goal? 1. Your own cool blog, or niche expert communities: Good for self promotion as an expert, maybe as a sales channel, or affiliate promotion. 2. Article directories: Good for self promotion and traffic. 3. Guest blogging: Good for self promotion and traffic, bad for your blog, because owners often want an exclusive posting. I hope this helps a little, but I'd really like to see your opinion about this. So, share your thoughts, ok? See ya:)
  8. On my other thread, Tawnya suggested that I consider selling PLR. This is something that I had planned to do about a year ago, but then I read some discussions somewhere that "selling PLR is dead". I *do* want to offer some PLR for sale, but don't want to spend the time setting up and writing the content if it's just going to be another dead-end (unless you're already established). Does anybody here offer PLR for sale, or do many of you buy PLR for use in your own businesses? It might have been on the Warrior Forum that I read this about PLR being dead, but don't remember for sure. It had to have been somewhere major, or I most likely wouldn't have been put off so easily.

I'm a single mother of two - my son, LEX who is 7, and my daughter ABI who just turned 12 - now you can see where I came up with my business name, which I am incredibly proud of! I live in the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, Canada but look forward to working throughout North America and have already done a bit of business in Oregon. Due to our lifestyle, my work has largely been online since the computer came about. A large percentage of my business associates are writers and authors. With this background, I specialize in web design, video trailers, research, and writing. However, I enjoy taking on additional tasks which can be computer generated.   13. My name is Carol Murchie and you can find my new virtual assistance business at www.yourvirtualsherpa.com. I just launched Your Virtual Sherpa at the end of May 2012. It seemed a logical transition from conventional careers and jobs because I have re-invented myself in many ways over the past several years. At this time I am getting the word out and hoping to get new client prospects identified. My original training is in librarianship (Master's Degree from the University of Michigan) and after several years in the traditional field, I moved onto database conversion specifications and project management for an electronic publisher. With consolidation in the industry, I worked as a contractor and consultant with primary focus on more database management, indexing, research, and in more recent years I worked as a finance manager for a nonprofit where I largely taught myself Quickbooks and some accounting. My chief skills are in conducting research (just about anything you can think of, from harpoons to land disposition laws), organizing databases, search engine technology, and nonprofit governance. My technology toolbelt has included various Web search engines and browsers, Quickbooks, Microsoft Office, Documentum, Lotus Notes, Blackbaud Raiser's Edge, Re: Discovery Museum software, Past Perfect Museum software, and Wordpress. I continue to take advantage of any new technology training or hands-on practice for same. My alternative tagline for Your Virtual Sherpa is "Let me go crazy so you won't have to!" I live in Fairhaven Massachusetts with my two cats, Henry and Duncan. They serve as paperweights in the office. I have a concierge service locally for pet-sitting and even have helped people get their car's problems fixed when they are too busy flying around the world to do it themselves! I look forward to being part of a fascinating universe of people who are equally talented in all sorts of things--I'm still a librarian in that I love to help people through referrals when a task falls outside my generalist "grab-bag" of goodies!
