  1. Julzee, I'm so sorry I didn't see this sooner. To log into the free seminars the username is just your name, and the password field is left blank. It won't help you this time, but next time it will. Again, I'm sorry you weren't able to attend
  2. I'm really excited about the talk tonight! For anyone having trouble converting (I just found myself going oh CRAP that's 5pm CST!) the talk is going to be at: 3pm PST 4pm MST 5pm CST 6pm EST Whew! That kind of hurt my brain. Just a little. The powerpoint presentation was finished by this morning, and I'm really excited. You all probably think I'm kidding when I say "Network like a superstar!" But no...I really mean like a star. You can be Paris (or Perez) Hilton...your choice! Okay, the point is to be yourself, so don't be either of those two wannabes - you're b
  3. Remember how membership skyrocketed here at VAnetworking.com after being listed in the Reader's Digest? Just one example of how PR can drive traffic.
  4. This sounds SO fun! If I could tap into the deep dark recesses of my brain...wow...I could take over the world! I won't miss this seminar, count me in! (I'm so glad I'm a VAinsider, wooHOO!)
  5. I was completely freaked out by this. Angela Wills had the link in her newsletter, so I went to the site...and I actually know Marie Hale! (One of the other people giving away a prize.) What's funny is I never realized webmomz.com was local to the Chicagoland area...now I do. The Internet is so amazing. It just blows my mind sometimes.
  6. I'd make a copy at the library of the article and scan it and put it in your "media" or "press" section online. Or in "what we've done for clients" - at the very least NOW is the time to ask that client for a testimonial for your website! Congratulations!
  7. I find it very funny that Time Management Month is the shortest month of the year.
  8. This seminar was AMAZING! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's homework next week
  9. Birds of a feather, flock together! That's why I hang out here with the successful VAs! But any woman in business can really benefit from the tips of other women in business. (They even say on the website men are welcome too, so if you're reading this and you're a man, you are not excluded.)
  10. I'm so excited! I don't know how many of you are on the Shopping Cart Queen's email list, but I received an email this morning and it was about Wonderful Web Women. I get a lot of these types of emails every day, but this one (for whatever reason) made me want to check it out. So I go to the website and if you scroll down the page you'll see our very own Kathie Thomas will be doing a talk promoting Virtual Assistance! This is going to be a great online event. NINE WEEKS of seminars from successful women who work on the web! The Shopping Cart Queen, and the Ezine Queen are two p
  11. HUH? Angela...you didn't post yet...how could I be talking about your post you crazy girl. Glad to see the link fixed, that blog is way cooler than the other one Darrell!!!
  12. I'm confused - I went to the first link...and it's about dog poo?
  13. Aw, thanks Angela! You can leave a guestbook entry on any one of my lenses and I'd be thrilled. Make sure to post and let us know where your Squidoo lens is located so we can all check it out!
  14. UPDATE: Squidoo emailed me and informed me they were putting the whole community organizer thing on hold and they'd let me know if anything changed. Wow, was I dissapointed at first...but then I got to thinkin'... This is going to be part of my online portfolio next time I find someone who needs a community organizer! I've done the work already, I may as well turn this into a positive! And this also makes me realize that when I respond to an RFP or send an email to a potential client and want to add something for follow up...a squidoo lens is a great link! Sending a link
  15. If you're new to Squidoo and have never made a lens before, when you go to the group page you will see... Just click on the "Make a Lens" button and Squidoo will walk you through the process. If you're already on Squidoo and logged in you will see... You can choose to make a new lens..or right below the pink button you will see the link that says "add an existing lens" and that's how to link your lens to the group! Thanks so much for asking Sally!
  16. You’ve been listening to me talk about Squidoo forever and a day now. You know I’m a huge supporter, and you may even have seen my last blog post about my Dream Job being an Online Community Organizer. Well, it looks like Squidoo is looking for an Online Community Organizer. I’ll let you all take a moment as you picture me freaking out when I read that this morning. Because you KNOW I did. I completely went over the moon with excitement, and I made a lens about it (duh!) So if you could do the following things, I will give you a favor in return because I’m all about the win-win
  17. I realize Tawnya already gave you props for this post Gaby, but I just had to chime in, EXCELLENT POINT! Looking at others, no matter where they are, as competition is just another excuse. If you focus on getting your business right, and finding clients that want to work with YOU, this just isn't an issue. A "scarcity" mentality does not serve anyone as a business owner. A VA doesn't need thousands of clients to pay the bills. Sure you can get to that point eventually...but if you're not finding 4, 5, or even 10 clients to fill up your billable hours it's not the fault of someone
  18. Ok, I think this is a neat little tool to put one of those "click here to call" buttons on your site. For free! Jaxtr lets you register (for free) and put in a landline or cell number and it gives you a widget to put on your site (or myspace page, or wherever) and the person that wants to call you clicks it and your phone rings! Best of all? They never find out your number. So if you want calls from your website to go to a line you don't normally use because it's private, you can use it and know that those calls are web leads before you even pick up the phone! Thought it seemed
  19. I don't think it was an uproar, really - VAs (in general) have almost all been outbid or underbid by people in other countries where 9.00US is more than a living wage. As such, we react. I think uproar involves more cussing and fist shaking...but that's just my opinion Heck, I've been underbid (back in the day!) by someone from a rural area that had a lower standard of living than I do. Yes, I know because I emailed her and asked. I live in the Chicagoland area, and she didn't. I'm not going to get miffed at her for living rural...just like the person who lives in New York City or LA sho
  20. This book was released two days ago so I don't have it...YET! With everything Web 2.0 being seen as bright and shiny and wonderful Andrew Keen is standing up and saying "Uh oh!" On the Change This site there's a link for a free .pdf view or download of the manifesto explaining what he's talking about, but the basic gist is this: While new Internet technology has revolutionized traditional media and allows everyone to be writer/creator, if everyone is writer/creator, then just who is left to listen to the cacophony? My favorite quote from the free downloadable (or viewable o
  21. I see the pricing...what is the benefit? If I give, say $2000 to be listed on your site...what does that do for my business that $2000 in advertising wouldn't do?
