I am 58 years old. I am married and have two sons, one daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters ages 2 and 4. They all live with us and right now all of us adults have been laid off our previous jobs so my husband is the only one working. I am receiving my severance at least until the end of July. All the more reason to get my business really up and running to bring in an income. The reason I had to setup office in a storage building outside the house. I started my business in July 2008 but haven't gotten any clients as of yet. I really haven't had the time to devote to it. I do now. I like gardening and reading. I like painting, I just bought a Wacom and it had all the software including Corel Painter to help me learn how to paint using my computer. I like all sorts of crafts, scrapbooking, etc. I like good movies when I have time to watch. I think that is about to be a thing of the past for a while. I like going to conferences with my husband for his work which is Sports Medicine. He works as a sports medicine events coordinator for the largest hospital in this area. We go to several events each year. I have 3 brothers and two sisters. My father is deceased but my mother bless her heart is still living. She will be 87 years old in May and has a older sister who is 91. I started this week on the Sonoma Diet and an exercise program with the Leslie Sansone walking at home DVDs. I have Fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritus so I desperately need to lose weight to help with these medical conditions.

I was just laid off the end of January from my regular full time job with Sprint Nextel at a large call center. I was the Facility Coordinator for 10 years with them and coordinated the maintenance and repair for the Charlotte, NC call center as well as two others and 21 commercial sites. I contracted and negoiated vendor services and repairs. I prepared invoices for payment, created purchase orders and field order contracts. I was the admin for my manager, creating Excel spreadsheets, managing data bases, correspondence via e-mail, telephone, written communications, and IM. I corresponded with all levels of employees all the way up to the CEO of the company. I was in charge of records retention for the Charlotte center. I ordered office supplies and requisitioned and inventoried them to employees (900)at the Charlotte center. I managed my manager and my company credit card statements. I was in charge of 1400 employee lockers and keys as well as all furniture and building keys. I also was the administrator of the conference rooms on the company reserve system for all 24 sites we serviced. I coordinated conferences and setups for large and small events internal and external. I oversaw the daily workings and operation of the housekeeping team at the Charlotte center. I implemented with my managers approval cross-training within our department. I created a training manual for each position within the department. I also created information manuals on each of the sites we were in charge of. I was involved in helping to make the Charlotte center green and Earth Day activities. I was receptionist for a while and also was a Customer Service Specialist on the call for a while.

Prior to Sprint I was working at companies in accounting: A/P,A/R,Expense Reimbursement, Invoicing, Payroll, Payroll Taxes, Receptionist, mailroom services.

I have an Associate Degree in Business Administration/Banking and Finance. I do not have Powerpoint experience but I am trying to learn it. Web Design is another subject I want to learn. I just joined the VAnetworking and VA Insiders in hopes of learning a lot from all of you to help my business.
