  1. I have been using a BlackBerry for my business for years. I'm currently using the BlackBerry Storm on Verizon. I refuse to get an iPhone due to the fact that AT&T is one of the worst carriers and their customer service as well as cell service is horrible. My husband had an AT&T work phone and the thing was practically useless even though we live in a very populated area. I'm able to access Facebook & Twitter very easily and have no regrets with this phone. I also have clients here that have the iPhone and they complain about the service constantly. Just my two cents.
  2. Me too! I can't believe it's almost time to go already. I'm very excited to go to Montreal and this trip I'm flying with Kelly Williams so I'll have great company along the way too!
  3. As usual Leanne - YOU ROCK! This is all very easy when you know where to look!! Thanks for the step by step - I would have dug around for a while before I figured this out
  4. Wow Rachel! Double blessings for you in 2009 - a new business and a new baby! Wishing you much success in your new business - there's so much here you could probably read until the baby is born and still not get through it all!
  5. Hi Chris & Judy, Happy New Year! Maybe I'm missing something here.. When I looked at the upgrade requirements for WP 2.7 it states that the PHP version should be 4.3 or greater and the MySQL version should be 4.0 or greater. That is what I'm unsure about - I have no idea what version I'm on so I'm not ready to just upgrade and then find out that I'm on an older version and it doesn't work. I am self hosting my blog on my own domain already, I'm just not sure what version of PHP and MySQL I'm on. I didn't readily find that info on my hosting company's site so I didn't bother to upgrade yet.
  6. That is a great idea Jodie! I'm experiencing the same issues as the other gals described. I have a 19" widescreen monitor and I can't see most of the text on the right and the furthest thing down that I can read on the left is Linked In, but not down far enough to see what that address is. It's a great idea - I think it just needs some tweaking
  7. Welcome Brandie! I'm a big race fan so it's cool to see someone here that lives near my favorite track! I lived in Nashville for a year while working on a project for my former company and really loved TN. I spent a lot of time downtown just enjoying all that the city had to offer. Starting up your VA business is a very exciting time and I wish you much success!
  8. I looked at it briefly but haven't yet been able to figure out if my hosting company has everything I need in place to move to the next version. Since my host wasn't listed in their list of tested hosts I didn't do anything about updating yet. I'll have to check it out further and see if I'm OK to upgrade. I may just want to do what I've done in the past though and hand it over to someone that knows what they are doing
  9. Hi Kathleen, Welcome back! You will find this forum to be a great place to hang out - there is a lot of talent here as well as the humor that you mentioned in your post. It's a friendly atmosphere and we hope you'll stay awhile this time around Wishing you much success!
  10. Hi Alana! You've definitely found the right place to get everything you are looking for and much more! This forum was a such a great help to me when I got started in 2005. I now have a full practice and really love "going to work" everyday! I'm the best boss I've ever had Wishing you much success!
  11. Hi Carol, Please send me an email to paula at socalvagroup dot org and I'll send you an email with the details. Our next meeting is January 10, 2009 in Irvine. Hope to meet you soon!
  12. I feel your pain Levi! It' so frustrating all the hoops you have to jump through to prove the content is yours (even when it is blatantly obvious) and the time it takes to follow the process to have the host remove the content from the offending site. What I find interesting is that while quite a few people know its the wrong thing to do and do it anyway, I've come across others (one very recently) that didn't even realize that they had done wrong and apologized and removed the content. I guess I just have to view it as a necessary evil to doing business on the Web but I sure don't like having to deal with that part.
  13. Hi Michelle! I used to answer incoming calls for a client through Accessline - it's been a bit but if I remember correctly when you answer it should announce something like "You have a call holding from..." and then it will give you a choice to answer the call live or send it to VM. I found it very easy to use and the VM messages were routed to me via email so I could listen to them without having to log in to the site (at least that is how we had it set up). I'm not sure what changes they have made since I was using it, but I really found it very user friendly. The only thing I would caution against is to test all changes as it appeared that some changes could be done online, but we often found that the changes didn't actually take and wouldn't unless customer service made the change for you. It was a great system for routing calls too as you could have it ring one number and then if there was no answer ring a different number etc. I thought their customer service team was fantastic too!
  14. I know our two resident tech guys are saying to stay away from HP/Compaq but I have to say that I have 3 of them - an HP Pavilion dv9720 laptop, a Compaq Presario V2000 laptop, and a Compaq Presario S4200NX desktop that I've had for more than a few years and I've never had one bit of trouble with any of them. I really like the dv9720. It wasn't expensive, it has a 17" screen and a full size keyboard with the ten key to the right hand side and I'm very happy with it. I use the Presario 2000 model laptop for traveling because it is lighter and smaller. My 3rd laptop is a Toshiba Qosmio F25-AV205 which I like as well, but boy does that thing get HOT. It started acting a bit strange like it was going to fry itself so I got the Pavilion to replace it. The Toshiba was about 2 yrs old. I also agree with the other comment as I am constantly trying to tighten up the hinge as it often gets loose. Anyway, since I own 3 HPs and have never had an issue with any of them just wanted to give my experience. I've also owned other HPs before these that I've since replaced but never had to repair any of them either. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another HP - just wanted to offer another view... My next one will probably be one of the mini laptops - I think they are cool. I've not ventured into the Mac world yet, but that is on the radar too especially since the price of them has been dropping. (About time!) Good luck with your search!
