  1. Me too! I can't believe it's almost time to go already. I'm very excited to go to Montreal and this trip I'm flying with Kelly Williams so I'll have great company along the way too!
  2. Hi Carol, Please send me an email to paula at socalvagroup dot org and I'll send you an email with the details. Our next meeting is January 10, 2009 in Irvine. Hope to meet you soon!
  3. I'm arriving at around 6:30 AM on Wednesday as I'm flying overnight, much better to have a dark overnight flight and sleep the whole way. Just hope I don't end up in the seat next to the screaming baby
  4. This is going to be so much fun! I'm flying out of Orange County Tuesday night and flying overnight, so I'll be in at 6:30 AM on Wednesday and my flight back leaves on Sunday morning around 8:30 AM. I'm happy to help out too if you still need someone. I've never made it to the Summit before and have decided that from this point forward it is really something I'm going to try very hard to make it to each year. I've implemented a lot of changes lately and I know that the Summit will give me that additional push to really kick my business into high gear. I can't wait to meet all of you!
  5. Darrell, you are a writing machine! Keep up the good work!
  6. Kathy, How fabulous is that!! It's the best feeling when you are doing something you love that also opens up doors for so many others. Congratulations!
  7. Great PR piece! Make sure you replace the # sign in the second paragraph with an actual number You really deserved the award - I don't know a lot of people that work as hard as you do! You seem to be everywhere!
  8. Rebecka, Thank you! Your system makes sense and I'm happy to have a way to account for these types of transactions as I use gift cards frequently. Happy Holidays!
  9. Hey there to all of the bookkeeping gurus out there! I have a question about how to post a few transactions. Here's the scenario - Each quarter I get a gift card from Office Depot based on the amount of the purchases I make. Since I used some of the gift cards to buy office supplies for the business, I now have some receipts that I need to account for in QuickBooks for purchases that I paid for using the free gift cards. In some cases the whole purchase is paid by gift card and in other instances the gift card paid for part of the purchase and the balance was paid from petty cash from business or via business credit card. How do I properly post these transactions in QB? Thanks in advance for your help!!
  10. I don't have any background in graphics and don't offer it as a service. I'm just a software junkie and like to learn new programs so I just bought it. I wanted to learn something different and thought it would be fun to play around with. It's an expensive hobby though!
  11. Jo-Carole, Lynda.com is a series of movies which walk you through software step by step. You are correct in that there are no instructors, or ways to ask questions. The movies pretty much walk you through the software one feature at a time so they are easy to follow. If you need more information after watching the movie or need to know how to do something specific to a particular software program, you are better off asking your questions on a forum such as this one, Adobe's site if it's an Adobe product or in Microsoft communities. All of the major software players have a forum of some type where you can ask questions. I find the Lynda.com site very helpful as I am currently using it to learn the basics of Adobe Illustrator CS3 and InDesign CS3 which I purchased recently and had no idea of how to use the many features and tools that they included. Hope this helps!
  12. I actually booked my room cheaper directly with the hotel as it was better than the IVAA rate. For Wed night it was $189 plus tax, but for Thur, Fri & Sat it was $126 per night. My total for 4 nights was $726.08 I opted for the non refundable advance purchase, but to me it was worth it to save some $$.
  13. I'm also attending the the IVAA Summit in Charlotte this year for the first time. I am really looking forward to meeting everyone! Funny, that I live in CA and couldn't make it to the conference last year when it was held in San Francisco, but this time around I blocked it out on my calendar very early, but now I'm going to have to fly all the way across the country to do it!! Anyway, I'm excited to attend and looking forward to it.
  14. Sorry Esha - I missed this post as I just came across it now. I will be in contact at the email address that you provided. Our next meeting is on December 15th in Carlsbad at Claim Jumper. I'll provide details in my email to you. Hope you can join us!
