  1. Thanks everyone! Angela, thanks for the link webhostingtalk.com, I will check it out! Diana
  2. Hi all, It's been awhile since I've posted to the forum - I've been lurking but not posting... Soo much to read, I find I don't have time to post after I've gotten caught up with reading! Anyway - I need some recommendations for a good web host. Has anyone used webonce.com? I need a good control panel, a host that can handle Moodle so it must have PHP5 and MySQL capabilities. It's a brand new site and although I've used several different companies for various sites I haven't used webonce.com but am interested if anyone else has... Thanks everyone! Diana
  3. Welcome Mary, I agree with Carrie, the contract is an absolute necessity at this point. You should always have a contract stating the rate and expectations of both you and the client.
  4. Wow, that's great Diana! I can't wait to read the article. I'm also going to check out CNN.com Sarah! It's so great that the industry is getting this much attention. (It's about time, in my opinion. )
  5. I was in this situation when I first started out. I explained to the person that Virtual Assistance meant just that, working virtually from my home. The person still wanted me to work out of her office, so I explained that because on the days I would be in her office, I would be unavailable to my other clients so I would have to charge her more to be there for her. She still wanted me in her office so I when I gave her an invoice, I also gave her the amount of what it would have been if I had done the work from my office instead of hers. She quickly came around to me working from my office instead of hers. I still go to her office every now and then because it is necessary but for the most part, I do her work from my office. (We've been working together for 3 years now).
  6. I also agree with Angela, but also wanted to add a client that pays on time!
  7. I've been searching for info about ISP charges and being able to deduct them. I found this info: "The deductions: All work at homers are eligible to write off home-office expenses such as: Utilities (heat, hydro, water); business phone; general repairs and maintenance; Internet access; supplies; rent; and condominium fees." The quote is from this site: http://www.ivc.ca/taxes.html There are also quite a few links to information regarding US taxation as well. For deducting medical bills - does anyone know if Chiropractic visits qualify? I'm trying to find as much as I can to deduct (like everyone else I'm sure!)
  8. I missed the last meeting and would love to be able to make it to the next one, so I think resuming in September is probably a good idea. I will also be in and out of town for most of the summer and when I'm in town I will be working my butt off trying to catch up! I haven't even had time to check in here for quite awhile - there were 11 pages of posts that I haven't read!
