  1. Great ideas.....thank you for sharing. Going to check out Periscope now.
  2. Definitely check out available domains first. I also wanted mine generic as to not limit myself to a specific niche and since I want to become a successful VA so that I can travel the country and work at the same time, my name just came to me. Fortunately the name was available. So I would suggest tossing in a couple different options before you really get attached to one in case it's not available. Best of luck.
  3. Why don't you build up enough business for yourself before hiring other VA's. Then when you have so much work that you can't do on your own, that would be the time to hire employees. Or like mentioned above, charge a percentage for anything that you sub contract if it's something you are unable to do yourself. That's just my thought on it, I don't plan on hiring anyone else until I have enough work to keep myself busy first. Best of luck.
  4. Hello everyone, I am so excited to be a part of this forum and I look forward to getting to know you all and learning everything I can about becoming a successful VA. A little about myself. I have 20+ years experience in the Administrative/Executive Assistant field in a variety of industries. The thing I find funny is that I realize that I have been a Virtual Assistant for YEARS before I even knew there was such a thing. I have always been the go to person for friends and family who needed projects done here and there and I always enjoyed doing it for them, but I have never charged for my services. It's always been a situation where say a friend was on the calendar raffle committee for her kids school and needed help designing/creating the calendar, so who did she go to for help? Me. My boss needed some forms created for his local Rotary group so who did he go to for help? Yum me again. Another friend wanted homemade programs to pass out in church for her wedding so who did she ask? You get the idea.....me. There have been a couple situations over the years where someone has recommended me to help someone in there office for a short term project and those types of deals I have been paid for. The point is I have always been helpful with a giant list of skills and I've always been the first to offer to help, just because I enjoy it. So recently I was having a chat with my sister about being fed up with the hustle and bustle of this daily grind that we call life. I was telling her how I dream of a life where I'm not tied down to an office job where I am not able to truly enjoy life. I feel like I work hard and although I do well for myself and I'm able to pay my rent, utilities and other necessities with some extra fun money left.....it never is enough to travel or take decent vacations as well. When I said to her how I wish I had a job that allowed me to travel the country and still make money either on the road or when I'm home, she was like "uhhh hello, you have a ton of skills where you can work online from anywhere" and that is when I discovered this thing called Virtual Assistant. And here I am. My business name reflects my desire to travel hard and also work hard. I have my website up so now I'm ready to start marketing the heck out of myself and start getting work. My ultimate goal is to get enough work so I can quit my full time job and completely work for myself. I apologize for this being so long but I really wanted to explain who I am, why I am here and what my ultimate goal is. Thank you, Michele Richards Wanderlust VA
